theakseffect
I get a black screen followed by a reboot (right after apple logo) within 2 seconds after booting SL. Methods I used: Chameleon RC2 Boot-132 SL Hazard distro commands: -v -x -s -f cpus=1 GraphicsEnabler=n arch=i386 and "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x16" Any help, or even confirmation that newer Ati cards are not (yet) supported would be great. Btw: I'm trying to install SL on my Acer Aspire 5740G. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/214300-questionnewer-ati-video-cards/ Share on other sites

On another note, I'm not planning to replace the Radeon 5650 in my 2 months old laptop Tnx 4 looking @ your kexts though. ThE_MarD
Heyyo, Same.. using iBoot2.0 so I could install 10.6.3, and I got no QE/CI and no Frame Buffer on my ATi Radeon 5650 Mobility. Tried adding my Device ID to atiradeonx2000.kext as others have said to get QE/CI and I just got a Kernel Panic instantly.. so definitely advise against that unless you guys can work some miracle I could not. As for 10.6.4? some people have been saying no ati5000controller.kext in there.. but yet some others have said there's traces of everest (Hd 5000 Series) vidcards device ID's are mentioned in ati4800controller.kext.. I didn't see it.. but I am going to try and inject my device ID into that info.plist for it and hope for the best! First I'm gonna image my 10.6.3 of course. Xan21
I got snow leopard to work on my Aspire 5740G using SnowLeo (hazard wouldnt work for me) however my resolution is stuck at 1024x768. If anyone knows a workaround it would be greatly appreciated. Trying to use "Graphics Mode" doesnt change it at all.
