Freaky Chokra
Guess Is it for Snow Leopard too!!!??? That would make for some seriously returning mac apple fans.. to Mac gaming communities! And, I'd be giving away free beers! (as in free as in beer) Tee Hee! Regards, Freaky Chokra
invisiblesurfer
not only that, but it will also create the need for apple to allow for customisation of macs (expansion of memory - addition of storage space - video card swaps) in the models to come. Having said that, most game devs design games to rely more on the cpu than the gpu (which contradicts my own thoughts above - I assure you I am not bipolar)

Panzo69
is the unreleased beta still playable and does it play counterstriek source yet?
Beerkex'd
Only Portal is available to those who haven't signed up for the Beta. Didn't look too closely (I own it already) but it looks like they are giving it away for free. If you don't own this game already, now is your chance. It's a wicked game. I guess if you're in the beta program and own HL2 and CS:Source then you can install them? For me, when I log on to Steam, the games in my library that have a Mac version already - TorchLight, Braid, World of Goo - all have an "install" button in Steam but the games don't install when I click it, a dialog pops up and the download appears to start but then I get a "Server Busy" message. Team Fortress 2 also has an install button but shows the same message. All other games I own (including CS:Source) don't have an install button, and there's a message saying "(game) is not available on your current platform". If you own any non-Steam Mac games you can install and run them from Steam just like you can do in Windows (see frefrefrer's post above). /EDIT Ass!! Portal is done downloading but it doesn't work. I get a "Steam Error: This game is currently unavailable" message when I try to start it.

It really fascinates me, the idea of playing games in Mac. Especially COD:MW2. You said the non-steam version games added to Steam beta. How is that possible? Is it like Windows copies, that you integrate into Steam for Mac? If so, from the original discs, or u know "wink" ones? Can you bring me up to speed? Beerkex'd
Is it like Windows copies, that you integrate into Steam for Mac? No. All the games he mentioned have proper Mac versions. Yep, playing Portal now at 1900x1200! Very smooth fps with every graphic option maxed out (AA switched off - never seen the benefit at high res). Superb!
