OpethLFC
Hey mates, I want to install Mac OSX Snow Leopard on both, my desktop pc and my laptop. The only problem I got so far is that i clearly can't see through all this posts/guides and all the stuff I need. I already used the search, but found only a guide for my desktop system which won't work 'cause I don't have any access to a mac here. So I need mostly your help! I'm no pc-newbie - i'm just new to the Mac-scene. Hopefully you can help me out! So far so good - here are my specs: Desktop-PC: Asus P6T (original SE - bios patched to P6T) Intel Core i7 920 6 GB DDR3 1600 Corsair ram (TR3X6G1600C8D) nVidia GeForce 275 GTX 1 TB sata harddisk + 500gb sata - no raid configured. Hope this is all what you need. Not to my laptop: It's an HP Envy 15-1090eg - here are the specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...513&lang=en Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/211497-need-some-help-from-some-smarter-people-p/ Share on other sites

Fatshenanigans
I've read through several threads that have everything you need including instructions on how to get your computer working without a Mac since I had the same problem with my Asus P7P55D-E but there were no good guides that I could find either then or now for my setup. But using their tips and tricks I was able to get my Asus to work and then I got a Gigabyte for a backup that I had working right away once I know what to do and what not to do. Even though you flashed to the P6T from the P6T-SE (for SLI I presume), Snow Leopard only sees the basic hardware layout. So for all intents and purposes you are still using a P6T-SE. You are lucky in that there is a guide for that board with a fully functional DSDT with speed step, c-states, sleep, and everything else. I used their guide to get my system to do the same thing but I had to make some adjustments obviously. The guide is by tweak41 and I think Bchemist wrote a procedure on how to use a distro to at least get your computer up and running in 10.5.7 so you can create your boot USB. I am interested in seeing if you can install SL on your laptop, so if you can extract your DSDT or your bios.rom post it here and let me see if I can help since that would be the most important thing to get your laptop functioning. Hangten
Try Tony's boot CD http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/ Works even on my EVGA x58 SLI. Although this isn't how i installed it. Didn't exist then. And also get the goods: http://www.kexts.com/ Remember its also important the version of OSX SL so if your running in 32bit or 64 and if you need to update while in safe-mode to say 10.6.2 to get everything going. DSDT is important! But it will boot without as long as you have the correct kext's to compensate. READ things through and you'll be good to go. Fatshenanigans, can you download a DSDT for his board or point it out? Some places have DSDT even Tony has them posted: http://efixusers.com/showthread.php?t=38 GOOD LUCK and don't give up! You can do it! They should both work by looking at the spec's. I don't see why not but you will have to compile a DSDT for the HP. http://www.osx86.es/?p=860 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/211497-need-some-help-from-some-smarter-people-p/#findComment-1419715 Share on other sites
OpethLFC
Alright. I got the PC up and running. Everything fine - got some friend with a Mac Book Pro 'cause I couldn't get it running otherwise. Now everything is running fine (except for the X-Fi Titanium in my Pci Expresslot). Had to use the P6T install, don't know why but the P6T SE didn't worked out. Now the Envy is left. I can't extract the DSDT without Mac OSX installed, right? So it's going to be difficult to get this done. Could some1 explain how to extract the bios.rom and the dsdt in Windows? Would be nice to see that get going. Thanks a lot! The DSDT for the P6T-SE, his other motherboard, here also on page 23. For the DSDT for his HP once he clicks on the window he can extract the ACPI. I did it earlier with my HP9000 laptop using Everest as said above. I guess the boot CD method will work but I've found them to actually be harder than the USB method plus I would be too paranoid to not have my trusty USB stick to save me if I screw something up I'll try to download his bios from HP. I didn't have much luck extracting DSDT's from HP bios before but it can't hurt to try http://rapidshare.com/files/357432937/Desktop.rar.html Here is the DSDT And the bios dump from everest- Great timing...I'll take a look Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/211497-need-some-help-from-some-smarter-people-p/#findComment-1420547 Share on other sites

Gorilla no baka
Hello mates I am Gorilla no baka and after one month of trial and errors and after having spent my home bandwidth allowance for the next year downloading and trying to install one of the new OSX images for Intel i came at the conclusion that obviously i am doing something wrong.. I read the effin` manual effin` times before coming here to post... Guys....I do not know...I really wanna try one of them OSx86 even an old one..The whole idea sounds fantastic...OSX on a PC I will upload my laptop specifications -------> Gorilla_s_hardware_details.txt I saved the file as .txt it works in Linux i hope it works on OSX as well... As you probably realized by know i know beans about OSX..But then again i was in the same position with linux 7 years ago... I can learn if i am being given the chance..but in this case I am stucked sometimes i can not even burn the iso image (And yes i know how to burn it. ) and when i do manage to burn it it just won`t boot.. So here i am ...If a charitable soul could point me toward which image to download one that would be compatible with my laptop specifications Here they are again... -------> Gorilla_s_hardware_details.txt (And it must be an ISO because in most of the cases after i run dmg2iso and convert the file afterwards i am being left with a 7-ish GB ISO file which is way to much for my old Nec Laptop which can only burn normal DVD`s not double layers..) Than i could take it from there... I am willing to wait until some of you crazy hacker cats will have enough time on his hands to drop me a line.. Cheers Right...as i was telling you...when i try to burn the ISO image i get an error (No matter what speed i use by default i set my brasero to use the lowest speed setting.) And here is the whole session log.. -------> Brasero_error_log.txt in case someone has any ideas...I have to say that this is the first time in my life when i am not able to burn an iso..Nothing helps ..Updating the drivers updating the whole programs trying various burners... So i am lost ... PS:Sorry for hijacking the thread but that`s only because i am not allowed to post until i get like 5 posts under my belt.. You know...You guys should open up an introduction forum where people can introduce themselves and in the same time accumulate the necessary 5 posts... This will really take care of the post hijacking...and it will be easier for the mods as well..I know from my own experience what is like to transfer posts and threads from one subforum to an other a other topic to an other and so on... Fatshenanigans
From 200 plus errors down to 3 warnings plus I fixed a bunch of junk...not a bad start I hope Let's see if it works? You probably need to set up your P6T-SE first since the laptop will be trickier and you'll definitely need an existing system unless someone knows how to do it without one. With the desktop there is a method described using a distro in the thread that I posted. If not I'll write something later. Hangten
First off if you read some of these guides there are more ways than one to install. If you use a Boot cd to get your authentic SL installed its just one way of getting the data on your disk. This Boot cd or USB method does only that depending on what preparations are also included. It basically runs script to put files in there rightful place. The best method I use is carbon copy cloner on an Apple or already built Hackintosh and have a raw (nothing added, Vanilla) installed SL that came off a real purchase on a partitioned part (20gigs). It transfers the whole install in minutes (lots or time reading and finding the right kext and DSDT is a must so it matches your hardware). Had machines booted and running quickly, although not everything works so having hardware that has already developed DSDT and kext's makes life easy but that is thanks to Insanely mac and its great people. What is the details on your machine? Is it hackintosh friendly? This is stuff you need to say when you start your own thread. I am suspecting that my machine is quite hackintosh friendly..here`s my machine detailes..I did post them..That was the first thing i did ... Basically i dual boot Ubuntu and PCBSD..I am familiar with both of the systems...No probs from here... Just click the linky and you will see.. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=67931 The problem is that in most of the cases I do not even manage to get the disk booting ..And i tried ALL the ISO`s out there... the most succesful i got with iATKOS_v1.0i.iso (That was the last one i tried it goes on a endless reboot ) If you click on the link you will see my hardware detailes ...My processor is sse sse2 So i should be allright.. If it can not be posted in the forum due to the forum policy and stuff i would appreciate if somebody would send me a PM... Once i got an image that it works i can take it from there... i am not afraied to RTFM and stuff.. But in my case the manual and all the tutorials i read does not help for some reason.. Cheers lads!
