Tony, I can't for the life of me get the ATI PCIe 4670 to work on my GA-P55-UD3L. I keep getting panics in verbose.

com.apple.ATIRadeonX2000(6.06)

How do I boot with -x? I added this in Graphics Enabler but it did me no good.

i5

4GB RAM

250GB HD

GA-P55-UD3L

try booting up with this option

-pci1 GraphicsEnabler=Yes

be sure to use either Chameleon RC4 as boot loader or try pcEFI 10.6

How would one switch boot loaders?

Also, on the 9800GT I bought just to get into the OS I don't have Quartz Extreme graphics in 10.6.2 - how does one enable this?

For kicks I put the 4670 back in after installing ##### and now it just blackscreens =\ He left me the computer for a week, I'd love to get the 4670 and Quartz working for him.

First of all u dont know what bootloader u have installed, when you learn how to tell us that information i will tell you what to do to get it working.

btw, 4670 card works 100% but there are different framebuffers that enable only certain output graphic ports on your card..

I have EFI 10.6 installed, I just don't know how to switch to a different bootloader, I don't care about the 4670 at this point I just want to get Quartz Extreme acceleration enabled.

I'm using PC EFI 10.6 I booted with that string and I get a black screen. I also tried the other DVI port. I also tried GraphicsEnabler=No

Nothing.

double check the Device ID is in ATI4600Controller.kext

I don't have that kext unfortunately, could you perhaps email me? Next I'm going to try booting with the 9800GT and following this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...aded&start=

Hopefully OS X doesn't freak with 2 video cards.

edit: added ATISupport.kext ATI4600Controller.kext ATIRadeonX2000.kext - now I get to the spinning gear, which just spins without getting bored. One of these kexts must turn off verbose..

tried booting with: -pci1 GraphicsEnabler=Yes and -x with these kexts - nada.

Back in OS X - strangely, it detects the 9800GT as being an ATI 4890 with NVIDIA (0x10de) as the Vendor haha and only 32MB of RAM. It does detect the 4670 but as a 4600 with 1024MB, which is correct. I just ran ##### and selected NVIDIA. I'd like System profiler to at least report that accurately before I proceed (I ripped out the NVIDIA kext files so I'm sure that's what did it).

1st off you shouldn't need to boot with -pci1 2nd add -v to that list of bootflags to ensure that its working.

system profiler is likely not reporting the right thing due to having 2 cards and the dsdt not being adequate enough to interpret or GraphicsEnabler can't inject for 2 cards at once properly

I just installed Chameleon RC5 for grins - booting with GraphicsEnabler=Yes -x -v on the 4670 gets me stuck at evoenabler: Probing

Same thing with Choice of Chameleon 2.0 RC4 AsereBLN 1.1.9

Great now I'm getting this error with the 9800GT. Time to go back to EFI 10.6

Now I'm getting the evoenabler: probing error with all bootloaders.. hmm

1. stick with pc efi 10.6 or 10.5 someone on the wiki got your card working with efi 10.5

by not screwing with your bootloader you limit the number of variables thus making this easier to solve

post the contents of your /extra/com.apple.Boot.plist and /Library/Blah/blah/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.boot.plist

your probably better off doing a default retail install using a guide for your motherboard then post back and we can guide you from there

EVOENabler is getting injected somewhere, you likely installed a kext trying to inject that REMOVE IT you can't have 2 injectors trying to work at the same time

/extras/com.apple.boot.plist

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>arch=i386 -v GraphicsEnabler=Yes busratio=20</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>3</string>

<key>Legacy Logo</key>

<string>Yes</string>

</dict>

</plist>

I can't find the other boot plist in SystemConfiguration which are you asking for?

To boot into safe mode you need to add -x to <string>arch=i386 -v GraphicsEnabler=Yes busratio=20</string>

Should look like this <string>arch=i386 -v -x GraphicsEnabler=Yes busratio=20</string>

And wham until you get stuff fixed then remove it to <string>arch=i386 GraphicsEnabler=Yes busratio=20</string>

This is mine:

<key>Default Partition</key>

<string>hd(0,2)</string>

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1680x1050x32</string>

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Instant Menu</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>busratio=20</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>3</string>

It might only work on Snow Leopard 10.6.2

I just installed one this weekend on my buddies build I did.

Only the vga part works so far its a Diamond HD4670 and so far its working with everything graphically but limited to vga until i hack the kext in the controller and so on in the /systems/library/extensions

*kext contain the plist if you right click show package content

Why aren't you running full 64bit?

No kext are added using only the GraphicsEnabler=Yes thats it with PC-EFI 10.6
