Hey all, I added my ID into the Intel PRO/100 VE kext and as soon as I repaired permissions and touched the Extensions folder using OSX86Tools the "new network interface" dialog came up and I got connected.

I went to system updates and chose to download all the stuff that I use, no system updates or security fixes, then went and downloaded Growl, NTFS-3G, an update for Adium, and when NTFS-3G finished installing I accidentally clicked "Reboot" without reading it (thinking it was "Close"), system updates installed the two things that it managed to download (safari and quicktime i think), once it rebooted I went to finish upodating and it told me i had no network connection.

So i go to network preferences and sure enough, Ethernet shows "Unplugged cable" and I can't even select it in the add new interface menu.

Anyone know what happened? I was so happy to finally have it working because I can't stand Windows, but now it's broken again :(

Any help appreciated,

Aaron.

Ethernet shows "Unplugged cable"

sounds like this. try to change in system preferences => Network => Ethernet => More Options => Ethernet the duplex and speed manually. After every restart i must change in 10baseT and fullduplex => voila ethernet is no mor "cable unplugged". Dont forget to save and activate. in my case i must first choose fullduplex so that the ethernet is shown as connected - save, activate und do the same thing twice with half duplex so that i can connect via PPPoE. Give it a try. change some setting and take a look if the ethernet is flushing up as connected ...

I have this same issue on my notebook. the only fix i found out was restarting or shutting down the machine. I have to at least shut down my notebook 3 times in order to get my Ethernet working. 1 restart Not Connect to the Ethernet. 2nd shut off No IP. 3rd shut off Connects
