That's no what I was asking. I think I have it running, except it's not showing in the About this Mac info. If it's running I don't care about what that says, but if it is indeed NOT running I want to go about getting it.

From my knowledge those tests I did in my first posts are indications that I do have it set. I want to know if there is another way to do that.

Go to "about this mac", then click on More Info. System Profiler will open up. Click on Graphics/Displays. You are going to look for a line Called, Core Image, IT will say Software or Hardware Accelerated, Or Not Available/something similar. Then look for Quartz Extreme, It will be either Supported or not.

If you have Hardware & Supported for both then you have full QE/CI Support. If not then you can force enable it.

As I said before, I know it is not saying it is active/available through the System Profiler. I was wondering what I could do to prove that I do indeed have it enabled and working.

You have QE/CI, the 9800GTX/GTX+ is supported by the drivers that ship with 10.6.x. All you need is an Enabler/Injector/DSDT Patch.

If you'd like analog TV-Out to work I recommend NVEnabler, otherwise use anything as long as it's recent.

Run OpenGL Extensions Viewer (google it) or install the Tomb Raider Anniversary/Quake 4/Doom III demo if you really want to make sure.

Presumably all Macs that can run Snow Leopard support QE/CI so Apple decided to not show this information in System Profiler.

I think the OSx86 tool in your applications folder has a button to enable them, I may be wrong though.

That is a common misconception.

OSX86Tools (may it rest in peace) had a button to enable 'QuartzGL' which is not the same as Quartz Extreme/Core Image.

Forcing QuartzGL on for everything was, and still is meaningless.

Thanks for that! I'll look that up on google now.

For a minute there I thought I wrote my earlier posts in a different language...lol

EDIT

I ran that tool you suggested and it passed all of the tests except for 3.0. What does that mean?

Oh man, tell me about it.

I ran that tool you suggested and it passed all of the tests except for 3.0. What does that mean?

It means that 10.6.x does not support OpenGL 3.0 yet. It's coming in a future update. http://netkas.org/?p=362

What were your scores like?

That worked like that in 10.5,

in 10.6. no QuartzExtreme/Coreimage is displayed anymore, only rotation is displayed.

if you have NO QE/CI

1. you move an open window over the screen, it shutters over the surface

2. if you scroll a window up and down, same shutter and unreadable

The way I prefer to test QE/CI

System Preferences -> Desktop & Screen Savers

click the "Screen Saver" tab

use under "Apple" the "Flurry" screen saver

click on the "Test" button

If the Flurry animation is running smooth - than you have QE/CI

if the animation goes somewhat stepwise - than you have probably no QE/CI

In Snow Leopard's "About This Mac" -> More Info... -> Graphics/Displays

the QE/CI information is no more present... (not in my Hackintosh)

...and of course: Not in my Imac :P

I don't remember off the top of my head. I'm not home right now though, I'll rerun it sometime tonight and let you know.

All signs point towards my system having QE/CI! Thanks for your help.

I'm interested because we have the same video card (yours has more RAM though).

Mine are in the low 3000's for everything but OpenGL 2.1 which nets around 150. OpenGL 3.0 fails of course.

Man my graphics drivers must suck. I can't get more than 17fps for the OpenGL test. I have an Nvidia Quadro FX3700M. Been having a hard time trying to get anything to really take to it. I ran the Xbench and got a 202 score. Not sure if that is good but I can't get past 17fps with the OpenGL test. You show avg. of 3K.

I am really off!

Any suggestions?

Considered buying a new card?

I don't know what to tell ya...
