Hello! :)

I must first say that I am somewhat new to mac and osx. I have a iBook G4 12", and I love osx. I cant afford buying a new intel mac, maybe a mac mini, but not sure.. well..

I was wondering if my current pc could be used as for osx86, if someone knows anything about my configuration, and can give me some hints and tips. I did install osx86, the 10.4.5 Jas I think it was, or 10.4.6, some time ago, and it worked, but was slower than running glue...

But, here is my current config:

Motherboard : MSI K8N Neo2-FX

CPU : AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Venice socket 939)

DVD : NEC 3550

Sound : Onboard RealTek ALC850 and Soundblaster Audigy 4 pci

Graphics : ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

HDD : 2x 200 gb samsung + 2x 160 gb samsung + 1x usb2.0 250 gb wd mybook + 1x usb2/fw400 320 wd

Floppy : Sony

keyboard/mouse : Logitech cordless desktop ps2 (have a usb to ps2 converter, but never tried it)

Any tips? could it work ? do i need to change anything to get it to work? help help :)

regards

Al Bester

Creative Audigy - no

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro - yes

Floppy - no

Keyboard/mouse - yes (although I find the mouse more accurate on USB)

DVD and HDD - I don't see why not...

Maybe you will run into trouble with the mobo chipset, but I'm not sure about that. Usually AMD users need to use more patches. Try your luck with myzar's 10.4.5 too.

I have checked the hcl, and i didnt find my card there, but it seems like not all cards working are listed there. And most of the cards listed I cant seem to find in any webshops in my country. (norway) at least not the ones that doesnt need much patching. (would be nice if all I had to do was change MB, and not all components in my pc)

What about nic and sound on the motherboard ?
