Nothing seems to work. Is this MoBo inherently problematic? Strange thing is Lepard 10.5.8 works like a charm.. Crabhunter
I too am trying to do the same. I am going down the retail install route. It is a big learning curve and needs a lot of research but that is what makes the challange so much fun. If I get there first I will let you know. If you succeed post your method here. bobross
Ok so I got Snow Leopard working on my EP45-DS3R. Here is how I did it: DISCLAIMER - This is to be tried only as a last resort and if you're desperate. I'm sure I will be mocked, shunned and flamed. My setup: OSX 10.5 already installed EP45-DS3R BIOS F11c Extra 320GB SATA 8G flash USB Stuff you'll need: Snow Leopard restored to 8GB USB stick USB GUIDE - Mac files from GigabyteUSB: Minimal effort install thread EP45-DS3R.zip file. Ok, so again... This is the "long way around" to do this. A clever person might not even need all these steps, I was just experimenting and it happened to work in the end. I was determined to get SL installed so I started with the Gigabyte USB installer from within 10.5.8 and systematically chose install options for the 8Gb USB hoping one would "just work". 1. First tried patching with Gigabyte EP45-UD3P to USB 8GB - crash during install - reboot 2. Then tried patching USB with Gigabyte EP45-UD3R to USB 8GB - crash during install - reboot At this point (maybe I should have done this first?) I though why don't I just manually copy over the files from EP45-DS3R.zip onto my 8GB flash drive? So... 3. EP45-DS3R.zip -> Extra -> Extensions -> *.kext TO 8GB Extra -> Extensions -> *.kext 4. also copied and replaced dsdt.aml & Extensions.mkext So at this point I was all excited thinking it would magically work. Upon next boot via the 8GB USB, nothing. So once again i had to go back into Leopard (10.5.8) and run the Gigabyte USB utility. This time I choose: 5.Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR to USB 8GB 6. Reboot 7. Start install as normal but when you come to custom screen unchecked EVERYTHING except base install and Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR (1MB) package. 8. enjoy SL and you can even run the update. On a side note: During the initial install crashes with the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R to USB 8GB, the progress bar made it to about 75% done. I was actually able to boot into SL at that point and even update it to the latest version. If you're feeling frisky you could cut out most of the steps and go form there.
