That is a good news.

Can you share the Nvidia driver (g210m) that you use?

Alright. I successfully installed Snow Leopard using a flash drive with the myhack method. I cant seem to get chameleon rc4 to work off the hdd though, it just sits at a blinking line screen and never boots. I can only boot off the chameleon on the flash drive. With the hdd in compatibility I only get the nvidia card in about this mac, but under standard both the nvidia and the intel cards show up, but the video ram is only available for the intel card. Does anyone know any reasons why chameleon wouldn't be working?

Hello,

I am newbie & I have been trying to boot into the NVidia and but no luck.

When I select "Compatible" mode from the bios, the system boots fine and I can

see the kernel messages but the GUI is not coming up, just black screen.

But if i select "Enhanced" mode from the bios, then it boots with the built-in card "GMA 4500".

I am suspecting that my bios version is old: UL30VTas.204

Also, I install SL by following myHack guide.

Do i need to install NVidia driver, if so where can I get it?

Thanks

Did you get chameleon working fine? I used the same settings in myhack as you and I have bios 207, the newest one.

No chameleon is not booting from the hard-drive, only from USB.

I will reflash the bios with the latest 207 and see if that helps.

Do you have the UL30VT-A1 or UL30VT-X1?

Mine is the -X1.

I have the A1, but as far as I know the only differences are in the wifi card, battery and color so everything else should be the same and not really effect anything. Are you running it as GUID or MBR? I've been trying to dual boot mine with Windows 7 on there as well on MBR.

I am running MBR and I am planning to install Win-7 too but I will wait until i resolve the NVidia driver.

Alright cool. I've been reading some posts and it looks like there's some progress in this thread for the 210m. More toward the middle posts. I just want to figure out exactly why chameleon isn't booting off the harddisk.

I added the following string into <device-properties> at "com.apple.Boot.plist" in order to turn on QC/CI

and at "About This Mac" I am getting the video card as GeForce 9800m GS OpenGL with total VRAM=1024 MB.

But when I play small resolution video (480p) QuickTime is using the CPU resource instead of the GPU.

I am getting 40% CPU usage.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

So, in compatible mode in the 208 bios, I re-installed Windows 7 and the nvidia card comes up by default like it does in os x, but I can't seem to get the graphics drivers to load. They say they install, but in hardware manager it says the driver is corrupted. I'm going to keep trying, but it's looking like dual-booting is going to be questionable under purely compatible mode.

I manage to boot NVidia with the correct resolution (1360x768) but don't know how to turn on QE/CI.

Could you someone tell me how to enable Quartz as I am newbie and new to Mac OSX.

Thanks

On my desktop hackintosh... Nvidia cards are a breeze to set up - just use GraphicsEnabler and a EFI string (I see somebody above has created one). However, I'm not sure generating a correct EFI would that easy for this card.

  • 1 month later...
EDIT #1: iATKOS v7 works with "-v cpus=1" since this laptop uses the GS45 chipset. I could not get iDeneb to boot up after the install. ACPI issues (oh so common 16384 blah blah message).

EDIT #2: Since this laptop has "two" video cards and no way to switch using the BIOS.... getting the GT220M to work will be un-typical. The LCD display is connected to the X4500 graphics card by default.

-----

Empire EFI w/ retail SL disc doesn't work (will try legacy EFI version later)

iPC - nope

iATKOS - nope

iDeneb - yup! (installing now)

I can imagine this laptop being a little finicky. I attempted to boot using a portable HD with a working iDeneb install (for another laptop) in safe mode and it halted.

I definitely want SL in this laptop - but will try Leopard first.

Exactly how did you manage to boot from usb? Did you prepare with disk utility from another mac or did you do it with a external dvd?

Or have did anyone here do it?

Cause I'm having problem preparing (or with the laptop to boot from usb) my usb-harddrive.

Things I have tried:

*Disk utility inside 10.5.8

-Mac os Extended with GUID and MBR... Nothing seems to please my laptop..

I prepared my 8 GB usb stick using the myhack installer, preparing it on my hackintoshed 1005HA netbook. Because of the recent refresh of the macbook pros yesterday, there might be some new progress being made on hardware level support for the x4500 IGP, so keep an eye on that.
