tdtran1025
I have 10.6.2 with latest updates and latest Silverlight. WHen trying to connect to Netflix Watch Instantly, Silverlight reports the same error 8152 relating DRM across 4 different browsers: Safari, Firefox, I.E and CHrome. Does anyone have an idea? I have to default to Windows to watch Netflix. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199206-silverlight-problem/ Share on other sites

tdtran1025
If you're not smart enough to post in the correct forum, you're not smart enough for OS X. Kindly format and install Windows. Good day. I normally don't reply to imbecile and dense remarks like this but this time I have to break my own rule. If I happen to make a mistake from time to time, let the mods move it to the appropiate section. Evidently, you don't even know what I am talking about so it is easier to make condescending remarks about someone in order to have a false sense of superiority in your own dense world. MODS, please close this thread and I will search in the other forum. pitap
Normally, If I realize that I am posting in the wrong section, I would put a note admitting the mistake. No offense tdtran1025, but we are just way too frustrated with people posting things in the wrong section lately. Shaweek
I do see that instead of answering this guy's question, everyone is complaining about the posting rules... I'll try to answer, even though I don't really know which is the problem here. If you're using Safari 4.0.4 and Silverlight 3, make sure first to have all the updates for all the other plugins, and of course that I've noticed lately that Silverlight begins to halt and crash when there's a kernel panic concerning the CPU. Because more and more people want to install SiL on Hacks, MS has implemented a fix for that. A kernel panic doesn't necessarily break the whole system, it may be short and unnoticeable, like this one. So if you've hacked too the InstallationCheck from the .pak, then this might be the problem. And the other browsers do not install Silverlight correctly because of the same matter. This is the only problem I could think of. Maybe even if you DO have a Vanilla install or not, the strange CPU and architecture is noticeable. Ah, one more thing; there's a short term problem with the compatibility between CoolIris, Flash 10 and Silverlight, that should've been fixed in Safari 4 and the new yesterday (or the day before?)'s build of the SiL plugin. So good luck with solving the problem and have a nice day! ^^ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199206-silverlight-problem/#findComment-1341852 Share on other sites
SA22C
I do see that instead of answering this guy's question, everyone is complaining about the posting rules... Yes, because this forum is a cesspool: filled with useless questions that are either asked and answered somewhere else, or that languish in the wrong section, unanswered for eternity. I would like to commend you on providing quite a bit of information that has nothing to do with the OP's issue. The fix can be found in smbios.plist and the assignment of a valid Mac serial number. See here for the details on creating a unique, yet structurally valid serial: http://prasys.co.cc/2009/11/understanding-mac-serial-number/ The issue arises from the SECRETSERIAL or W12345678 that is typically injected by the stock smbios.plist files provided in guides and distros. Since these aren't even close to valid, Silverlight rejects them. Read here for more details on why some users found a fix by using a prepatched smbios file back in the days before smbios injection from the bootloader: http://netkas.org/?p=58 Now, to the OP: Post in the proper forums. Make a positive contribution to this forum, rather than polluting it, ok? I would then assume the serial number is not feeding the model name and model identifier to the profiler and wonder if the fact that the two don't match up that it could cause an issue. Beerkex'd
Follow these: http://prasys.co.cc/2009/09/guidecreating-...n-smbios-plist/ (you can omit SMUUID, Chameleon 2.0 does not support it) http://prasys.co.cc/2009/11/understanding-mac-serial-number/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199206-silverlight-problem/#findComment-1379645 Share on other sites
