right, heres what you have to do. if you only have 1 hdd

download partition magic and install it on your windows system

and install it.

run partition magic. and set your main windows drive as active. then make a nother partition and set that one to active and give it a name.

format the partition as ntfs and click the green tick to apply changes.

reboot back into windows and you will see your new drive there.

grab your release1 patched tiger DVD, put it into your dvd drive and reboot your system

make sure your set to boot from the dvd drive or you wont be able to boot the dvd.

once the dvd starts up leave it to run unti you get to the setup screen.

start up diskpart. and you will see your newly created partition.

click on erase and then continue. give your drive a name once eraseing has finished.

and install to that new drive.

once osx86 is installed reboot the pc and you will see the darwin boot loader.

press any key to see the boot options and you will see local disk and your osx86 drive.

no need to edit the windows boot.ini file or copy over files from the dev dvd to your windows c:\

hope this helps. and if it needs editing then can a mod or admin do so.

this dual boot method worked for me. :P

is there an actual way of running that dual boot without having that 10 second countdown at the beginning ? (the one where if you don't touch anything, it will automatically start up OS X)...basically what i would like to do is to get both operating systems appear with a 30 second countdown right when i start up my computer.

In /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist add a key Timeout with a string value of the number of seconds you want it to wait (ie 30). You still have to press a key so get the menu, but at least you have more time. Also try setting Timeout to 0, maybe it interprets this as no timeout.
