I'm looking for a video card that works under SL that supports dual displays. I hear good things about the GTX 260, but do both DVIs work under SL?

I current have an ATI 4870 2GB, but only one port works (DVI or VGA). The other option maybe to get a second video card.

Price-wise, I'm willing to pay what a GTX 295, but prefer something mid-range.

most modern nvidia & ATI cards will do dual displays easy, unfortunately what you need is one slightly closer to the reference card design & thus what came in a real Mac.

Apple has been shipping dual-dvi cards in their desktops since long before the switch to intel. I've got a G4 with an apple DVI & ADC graphics card upstairs, IIRC it has been about a decade since a desktop mac card had VGA, far too long to expect any kind of easy support for a DVI/VGA card in SL.

While I've certainly read of people getting dual display on cards with a mix of ports (DVI/VGA or DVI/HDMI) if possible it usually takes quite a lot of fiddling, or requires converters (say... running dual analog displays VGA + DVI-VGA adaptor)

I would say anything from the Nvidia 9000 or 200 series with dual DVI ports would do well, as would most of the dual-DVI ATI 4000 series cards, but from what I've read the ATI cards are more temperamental to set up.

Same boat as me. I have an old 7300GT (DVI + VGA) and I wanna buy a new card with minimal config because I'm so fed up with trying to get it to work in SL!

Thanks. I'll try a dual-DVI BFG GTX 260 first I think. I found one at a store nearby for cheap.

A dual DVI GF 8800/9800/250 (which are just revisions of the same chip) is quite well supported and I have both DVI ports working on my hackintosh. I have experienced some problems, but that is probably because I am using two VGA (15 pin) analog monitors and thus have to use DVI to VGA adaptors.
