Awesome work! This is by far the most complete and easiest Hack install I have had. I'm sure you would expect this but this is running great on the EP43-UD3L. I just used the EP45-UD3L setting. This is the first time I have had working audio. Thx.

 

I have a question about 64bit. I tried to read through everything here but this thread is almost 80 pages. The OS starts in 64bit by default. I need 32bit and holding down the 3,2 on restart causes a kernal panic. I don't have a bunch of experience with this so I am looking for a way to force the OS to start in 32bit mode. I don't really need 64 so this can be a permanent setting. Any thoughts.

Try -x32 or arch=i386. You can also put arch=i386 in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist (replace the existing Kernel flags entry).

Brilliant. -x32 works perfectly. I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out. Thanks a bunch.

Try entering the following bootloader flag:

 

busratio=20

 

Tried.

Just the same, the system reboot when it try to boot the SL install CD.

 

I've seen a few requests for it so hopefully pretty soon!

 

FYI, I just tried the generated Boot CD from KakewalkCD using option "EX58-UD5" on my EX58-UD4 (w/ i7-920 & 9800GT) to install SL 10.6.0 and run the KakewalkBoot program with option "EX58-UD5".

 

VGA, ethernet & sound are working & I can update it with 10.6.2 without problem.

 

So far so good. I will let you know if I found any problem.

Hi,

 

First, thank you mrjanek for the great work you've done!

 

 

I have a Sapphire 4850 1gb with dual-dvi and 1 HDTV out, and an ep45-ud3r.

 

How easy is it to get the 4850 working now that mrjanek has added the option for this card in the kakewalk installer? I was thinking of getting a 9800gt just to avoid the hassle other people have described. Does OS X start up with the intro movie, account setup, etc in safe mode? I'm looking for long term reliability and ease of setup/reinstall with this. Should I just get the 9800gt?

 

Any reply is greatly appreciated!

Hi there,

 

I'm a complete newb at this, but I've done a fair bit of reading.

 

I've got SL installed on my system using Kakewalk. But pretty much nothing works. The following DO NOT work:

 

- Sound

- Ethernet

 

(Got everything else working)

 

Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here, but I figure I'm just missing something big. Any help would be much appreciated.

Your board X58A-UD3R is not on the latest compatible board list, so maybe that is the problem.

(you can found the list in the first post, only EX58-UD3R or X58A-UD5 is on the list now)

 

If you use the boot CD option, which model you choose in the pull down list in the programme when you generated the boot CD?

I'm aware that it's not on that list. It was the best match I could find. I used the EX58-UD3R. Perhaps I should have gone with the X58A-UD5?

Ethernet - 8111D

Slot (from CPU side, Physical) - PCIe x1, x1, x16, x16, x16, PCI, x16)

 

EX58-UD3R

Audio - ALC888

Ethernet - 8111C

Slot (from CPU side, Physical) - PCIe x1, x1, x16, x4, x16, PCI, PCI)

 

X58A-UD5

Audio - ALC889

Ethernet - 8111D x 2

Slot (from CPU side, Physical) - PCIe x1, x1, x16, x16, x16, PCI, x16)

 

 

From the config of those boards, X58A-UD3R & EX58-UD3R using difference chipset for ethernet & audio and the layout is quite different. That's why when you use boot CD for EX58-UD3R for X58A-UD3R, you can not get them work.

 

X58A-UD3R & X58A-UD5 use the same chipset for ethernet & audio (only difference is that UD5 have 2 ethernet ports) and the layout of slot is the same.

 

So I think you can try boot CD for X58A-UD5 for your X58A-UD3R.

OK, this sleep issue is annoying, can anyone please comment on a viable solution. The computer either panics when it awakes from sleep, as soon as I do something, like open another program, or the screen just stays black. In either case, I must re-boot. There is no other recovery option.

 

Someone must have figured this issue out? I am not sure it matters, but I am using a EP45-UD3P board.

Wow this project has come on so amazingly... One thing I am not finding clear... Will the disc work on the EX58A-UD5, even though the older EX58A-UD5 is listed on the supported models list, the difference being the EX58A has 24 phase power and USB 3.0 and SataIII

i built a perfect working machine with kalkeway installer. (genius!!!)

 

now i start wit a new one with GA-EX58-UD5 board and Saphire ATI radeon HD 4870.

so i thought everything should work the same perfect way.

 

but this time it's sleep doesn't work !!

i tried many things.

went back to i386, installed evoenabler, sleepenabler, atyinit.......and ..and...and...

no way !!!

 

has anybode some helpfull ideas ???????

Anyone have slow harddrive performance? It is so sluggish.. I have mentioned this before but I thought it was my SATA drive that was the problem.

 

I am using the 2nd gen intel ssd drive and everytime i do something that has to do with disk access everything behaves sluggish.

 

Disk score in xbench is around 230, when it should be over 300. Any ideas? I have tried in Windows 7 and have no performance issues there.

I did the benchmarking six times with two different hard drives.

Clearly the SSD drive is faster. Maybe there is something wrong with me? :)

 

Is there some other kind of benchmark app I could try?

HELP on G41M-ES2L (PCB v1.1) (F6) !!!!

 

Anyone can share their experience on this board?

 

I try to install SL on my friend's G41M-ES2L using Kakewalk CD.

 

But after I try to boot SL install CD, I got the famous "5 language" error message.

 

I try different BIOS setting , especially on the storage setting, it's just the same error.

 

Is it the problem on AHCI mode?

 

Cause I can't find any BIOS setting about AHCI.

In BIOS, all SATA devices were detected as "IDE Device"!!

 

Which SATA port should I connect the HDD and which port should I connect the DVD-ROM?
