Is it possible to upgrade the XP install (on my iMac) to Vista, or do I have to reformat the Windows partition?

(not got much on there, but backing up and reinstalling all the game extentions would be a real pain)

What's all this about removing the EFI partition, will this effect me being able to press 'alt' on startup to choose the OS (with it booting OSX as default) and will doing this cause any long term problems on the OSX side?

Suggestion, with MS having released a Public Beta of Vista, could there be an 'Installing Vista' section added to the OSX86 Wiki page (perhaps with an FAQ).

I just installed Vista B2 on my Intel iMac today. It does not allow upgrading. You have to do a clean install. I saw a good thread on here earlier about getting Vista onto a Mac without killing OSX, I'd highly recommend reading that before trying Vista otherwise you might end up with a Mac that won't boot.

I did an upgrade install on my MBP with beta 2. It does allow upgrading but you need to have at least 11.something gb free hard disk space.

I originally had xp/osx, so all i did was deleted the efi partition and did the upgrade, all hardware (except bluetooth) working perfectly when vista booted up. :)

Just one tip, don't touch the brigtness control in vista. ever.
