francoghini
Hello, I have an E-machines ET-1161-01 which has an ECS mcp61pm-gm motherboard and i get still waiting for root device on every single leopard retro, i have a feeling i have to change my sata drive mode to ahci but, in my bios i only have the option to do ide and RAID im kind of reluctant to use RAID incase it messes up my HDD, if needed i will post some pictures of bios thank you- Franco S. P.S. i checked for updates on the bios but found absolutely none! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194133-no-ahci-mode/ Share on other sites

ninetto
how do i boot from usb drive ? Should be in your bios boot/ order/devices, sometimes toggling +/- to get the right order. But running OSX on USB won't be too much fun in the long run... Your MB has nVIDIA nForce 6100-430 controller so for internal drives you have a hard task finding a driver for your controller... the install is simply finding no hard-drives, that's why you are getting the error. I have no idea if anyone has a driver for that controller, as I stay away from nVidia chipsets. good luck, ninetto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194133-no-ahci-mode/#findComment-1311316 Share on other sites

ninetto
i know how to actually boot from the drive but how do i make the drive bootable as in how do i boot osx from it? Well there's the old "flat image" method, or just install chameleon on that USB drive after formatting it, but in all cases you will need another OSX-capable (OSX-running) machine to do that. OR check out the USB-stick-boot method by StickPin which is a variation of 132-boot. But if you do not find drivers for your sata/pata controller it is all pretty much a dead end for your motherboard. hiside, n.m.
