gs3xr_fun
No it still doesn't work... am i supposed to changev something in the dsdt file ? i used the tutorial to generate dsdt.aml for my p5b board to install SN. i thought it would help if the tutorial can patch your dsdt and somehow resolve your problem. the script on the tutorial i mentioned suppose to patch your dsdt without you having to do it manually. nothing else i can think off right now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/190280-p5b-usb-devices-slow-snow-leo/#findComment-1290816 Share on other sites
zer0fire
and could you please let me know what are the settings you are using in BIOS about USB ? Legacy USB, ECHI... Which kext do you use and those you deleted ? Or is it possible de compare your dsdt with mine about USB ? If we have the same mobo, it should be the same USB stuff, right ? zer0fire
Thanks, but i don't know why it's still not working fine. I have the latest bios, with the same settings than you and the same Extra folder. Maybe the problem comes from my System/Library/Extensions folder ? Is it possible to get a list of your Extensions or the entire folder ? I don't know what to do now, i tried everything to get USB working. Jabbawok
The only non vanilla kext iv got in /System/library/Extensions is the voodoo HDA 64 bit kext. I have a sata HDD with MACOS on it with the bios in AHCI mode and a PATA DVD-R drive. I installed by plugging a usb hdd into a mac running 10.5 and formatting it with GUID MACOS extended journaled. I then ran OSinstall.mkext off the 10.6 retail DVD i bought. when that had finished i used this http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=185823 to install the bootloader and Extras folder. I then booted off this USB HDD on the P5B hackintosh and repeated the process, partition the hdd and run osinstall.mkext of the 10.6 install dvd, then the pre- install Automator. After that I updated the Kexts and boot.plist in the Extras folder with the ones I posted. Finally I used kext helper to install the voodooHDA 64 bit kext. Oh i also have a applescript compled into an app that uses ifconfig to set the ethernet in promisc mode so bonjour works. Let me know if you need any more details. darryl155
I also have this problem on Asus p5gc-mx, Snow 10.6.1. I haven't made any changes to any kexts yet. When i plug in an ipod it says I am using a USB 1.1 port (but my ports are all USB 2.0). The transfer speeds in System Profiler say maximum 12Mbps but USB 2.0 should be 480Mbps. Also one pair of USB ports it not working at all. In BIOS I have Legacy USB enabled and Hispeed selected for USB2.0. westwaerts
1. Check out System Profil and look which USB Ports are UHCI (USB 1) and which are EHCI (USB 2.0) at least one should show up as EHCI. 2. Disable Legacy USB in Bios, this causes the Apple EHCI Driver to take over control. ( if you read in your system log in console.app "EHCI was unable to take control over bios") And its quite helpful, if you tell us your Specifications, Motherboard, CPU, OSX version, there is always a missunderstanding in P5B, P5B-V, P5B-deluxe, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/190280-p5b-usb-devices-slow-snow-leo/#findComment-1365672 Share on other sites
bennyZen
Same problem here with SL10.6.2 on ASUS P5WDG2 WS PRO. All USB is recognized as UHCI except 1 as EHCI. USB performance is crappy slow and i'm getting really mad on this.Maybe someone can shed some light on this issue, since it's the only one i'm having on this system. everything else works like a charm. To say it in other words: USB2 is recognized as USB1. Any Suggestions? asesino de la ilusion
Hi, I am with Snow Leopard retail dvd using Chamaleon Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132 - Chameleon v2.0-RC3 r658, my mobo is ASUS P5WDG2 WS PRO, I dont have firewire, and only USB1. BennyZen, can you recommend me a guide to make my snow leo work in 64bits and have firewire, the usb fix it could be fix later, but the firewire is fundamental for me... pls help me. I boot using a bootloader CD, I dont find how to install the bootloader in my partition. regards, Jean Same problem here with SL10.6.2 on ASUS P5WDG2 WS PRO.All USB is recognized as UHCI except 1 as EHCI. bennyZen
@Jean i do not have any firewire device to test firewire-capabilities of my mobo but i got a big breakthrough regarding USB-performance: before all devices were recognized as UHCI instead of EHCI. now, using slice patched IOPCIFamily.kext my USB-devices get recognized as EHCI and i'm able to archive Hi-Speed. the kext is attached and should replace the vanilla IOPCIFamily.kext in /S/L/E everything else i've tried did not help at all. this is THE solution for slow usb problem (at least for me) OMG. slice you saved my day!! more info can be found here: http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=552 IOPCIFamily.kext.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/190280-p5b-usb-devices-slow-snow-leo/#findComment-1423963 Share on other sites
asesino de la ilusion
Thanks for the reply bennyZen, and the usb fix. I have more doubts. I look in about this mac (more info) and the system doesnt detect my firewire, and it works in iPC 10.5.7. Another detail is that it doesnt work in 64bits, it detects My cpu like a 3.0 unknow, i have a q6600. Can you make your system work in 64bits mode? What guide you use or you recomend me? thanks, Jean @Jean i do not have any firewire device to test firewire-capabilities of my mobo but i got a big breakthrough regarding USB-performance: before all devices were recognized as UHCI instead of EHCI. now, using slice patched IOPCIFamily.kext my USB-devices get recognized as EHCI and i'm able to archive Hi-Speed. the kext is attached and should replace the vanilla IOPCIFamily.kext in /S/L/E everything else i've tried did not help at all. this is THE solution for slow usb problem (at least for me) OMG. slice you saved my day!! more info can be found here: http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=552 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/190280-p5b-usb-devices-slow-snow-leo/#findComment-1425046 Share on other sites
