I expeected it to be finished a long time ago, as all core duo laptop users are in a pretty crappy spot using 8.4.1 based installs. bofors Posted June 1, 2006 Share Posted June 1, 2006 I think we will see a lot more interest in new kernel hacking once Woodcrest and Conroe hit the streets this summer and Apple releases the "Mac Pro". If you go with a 975 chipset board, you can drop a Conroe in latter. How's the compatibility with 975 boards? Can you recommend one? They work fine, the only issue is that none are availble with a GMA, so you will have to deal with a graphics a card. I would start by looking at the Intel D975XBX and the Asus P5WD2-E Premium (for overclocking, but some people are reporting this boards has problems).
