Oatman
I keep kernel panicing on the "AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext" file and I cannot figure out why.... I have my BIOS set to IDE for my harddisks. I have tried almost every solution out there and I cannot get anything to work. I have tried the "NetKas" Solution and I also tried to use the 10.5.8 kext and that never worked. I then looked inside my device ID's and I believe, but I am not positive that my device ID is inside AppleIntelPIIXATA. Here is what came up when I ran the OSX86Tools PCI Info. 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL Memory Controller Hub [8086:2770] (rev 02) 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ/P/PL PCI Express Root Port [8086:2771] (rev 02) 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller [8086:27d8] (rev 01) 00:1d.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 [8086:27c8] (rev 01) 00:1d.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 [8086:27c9] (rev 01) 00:1d.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 [8086:27ca] (rev 01) 00:1d.3 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 [8086:27cb] (rev 01) 00:1d.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller [8086:27cc] (rev 01) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge [8086:244e] (rev e1) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation 82801GH (ICH7DH) LPC Interface Bridge [8086:27b0] (rev 01) 00:1f.1 IDE interface [0101]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) IDE Controller [8086:27df] (rev 01) 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 82801GR/GH (ICH7 Family) SATA AHCI Controller [8086:27c1] (rev 01) 00:1f.3 SMBus [0c05]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller [8086:27da] (rev 01) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation GeForce 7350 LE [10de:01d0] (rev a1) 02:01.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394) [0c00]: Agere Systems FW323 [11c1:5811] (rev 70) 02:04.0 Multimedia video controller [0400]: Conexant CX23418 Single-Chip MPEG-2 Encoder with Integrated Analog Video/Broadcast Audio Decoder [14f1:5b7a] 02:05.0 Communication controller [0780]: Conexant HSF 56k Data/Fax Modem [14f1:2f20] 02:08.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) LAN Controller [8086:27dc] (rev 01) Can someone please help me that is more knowledgeable to see if they can get this kext to work for me? I am using the following kexts as of this moment: AHCIPortInjector.kext dsmos.kext AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext AppleIntelPIIXATA2.kext ATAPortInjector.kext EVOenabler.kext IOAHCHIBlockStorageInjector.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext PlatformUUID.kext (Which I have no idea how to use it, I just found it off of some forum) I am currently running on a weird HP designed motherboard through ASUS. P5LP-LE My system is a m8020n from HP. Intel Core 2 Duo 2Gig RAM SSE3 I currently am running 10.5.8 with no problems, I origionally installed using 10.5.6 from iPC Final and all i had to do to upgrade was to get NetKas' disabler and dsmos. So I can't figure out why I am having so much trouble with getting snow leopard to install.

G. Steel
Greetings: same boat, bigger holes. I have an ICH7 without AHCI. See my sig. for configuration. Have tried many of the excellent guides including: non-AHCI custom ICH9 AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext -- thanks fabulous well tooled Vanilla Install guide -- thanks MACinized! I have iPC 10.5.6 working. I have spent 6+ days trying to get SL working. Used CH 2 RC1,2,3 EFI 9,10.1 10.2. SL install on external USB HD. I get stopped at the press power button twice screen. No luck so far -- anybody out there get ICH7 working? Oatman
We have the same exact IDE drivers.... So its something to do with our motherboard/hard drives... Because we both got the exact same vendor and device ID's.... Which is kinda funny but sucks cause we can't get this working...

BrumBrum74
I had to use this one to get my HP DV9000EA laptop to boot: http://www.mediafire.com/?kmdwnjum90y Got KP all the time and could not boot at all. Not sure if you can install to /Extra/Extensions or you have to use /System/Library/Extensions Remember to repair permissions and rebuild mkext. Aesop69
I'm not sure if this will help you but here it goes. I have a ICH7 system and I tried everything like you did. my problem was in my bios! I had to turn off auto mode for my drives. my MB has 4 sata ports and 1 IDE channel. making my system have 6 hdd locations, for some reason SL didnt like any thing above 4. After turning off auto mode in drive configuration in my bios, 2 of my sata drive ports turned off (saying disabled IDE mode). So now my system thinks that 2 of the sata ports are the other ide channel. Now I can run SL with out any panics with a dsdt So please go thur your bios setting for you HDD. Oatman
What about the PIIXATA kext? Did you even change it at all to Netkas's or anything or did you leave it just like it came with snow leopard installed? What kexts did you use? Also 32bit or 64bit or both? Oh and under where in my bios do I set to auto? Btw, thanks so much for your help.

Oh and under where in my bios do I set to auto? Btw, thanks so much for your help. 1. Fakesmc in E/E (make sure to get the current one from Netkas) dsdt in root Chameleon-2.0-RC2-r640.pkg (replace boot file after install with boot from new RC3) 2. Both 32 & 64 work 3. I turned auto config for the drive off not on. (example: in bios under advanced then drive config, my board has a setting Auto configuation mode.. I turned it off) you bios setting will not match mine unless you have the same board, but that is where you need to look Can you take a picture of the hdd setting in your bios? Oatman
Yea sure, that would be no problem, my board has a "Combined Mode" and a "Enhanced Mode." I am pretty sure this is what your talking about because Combined Mode basically says it recognizes up to 4 IDE Drives and Enhanced recognizes six. Also, do you need disabler, at all? Also, do you need disabler, at all? disabler- havent had to use it yet! I do have to use PlatformUUID (adding the boot UUID from the -v to the info.plist) to fix my problem in terminal saying error 35 when I sudo -s. This was not needed to run/install. Kext Im using at the moment... dsdt Fakesmc UUID VoodooPS2Controller (32bit only) or AppleACPIPS2Nub & ApplePS2Controller (64bit only & will KP 32bit) AppleHDA (with HDAenabler inside) for alc888 w/o AZA or HDEF in dsdt (by far not perfect) 32/
