belgrano
For changing resolutions, refresh rates, QE, CI and Open GL here are 2 very important links: http://omni.starchaser.org/ - you can download/learn how to install/exchange informations about Callisto (a driver for your ATI card) http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=16847 - where you can read about OSx86 Project users' experience with Callisto. (well some of them are active on omni's forum also...) P.S. It seems that your benchmark results link doesn't work... Madcoaster
hé me with some results, it seems very hard to install that driver + from the post i read i doens't look that possitive to. so i'm reconcidering. i have alsaw tryed xbench, and here are my results, http://db.xbench.com/merge.xhtml?doc1=1718...&setCookie=true with a score of 20 i am very much giving up the dream of running tiger om my computer. these numbers look soooo bad, and to think that i have all compatible hardware. it even supports sse3, but on that test i seems like i don't support it. damnn it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18327-i-have-succesfully-installed-max-osx-1046-on-intel/#findComment-119703 Share on other sites
belgrano
I don't know what to say... Except OpenGL almost all your scores are significantly bigger than mine. If I were you, I wouldn't give up. It's not so hard to install the driver. All you have to do is to type some instructions in Terminal (which you can copy/paste from the Installation instructions from omni's site). What ATI card do you have anyway? mifki
If your Xbench cores are that terribly low, somtething is wrong. Look at my siganture ad with those specs i get 76.68 on xbench. Are you sure that all ofyour hardwar is supporeted. Is you motherboard all intel based? What ATI card do you have? Have you disabled BeamSync? (This can make your scores jump by 20) What type of HDD have you got (i.e SATA, 5400 Rpm)? Are you sure that the Callisto kexts are fully loaded? How much Memory have you got installed? I then had to costumize my install, an these are the tings that i selected to install. See picture on --> http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/14505534611.jpg&s=f5 after that, i rebooted Mac osx and then installed Acronis OS selector, and rebooted again. Then i started up mac osx tiger, and whent to see at the "about this mac" menu and this is what i see picture --> http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/14506014519.jpg&s=f5 picture --> http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=5/14506021048.jpg&s=f5 I did not install any drivers, keys. I think that Tiger runs pretty good, but the openGl scores are extremely bad, and because i apperently dont have quartz extreme support (thats what mac info tells me) i'm losing alot off mac goodies. And when i analysed my processr using cpuz it says i do have SSE3 and in mac it says i don't. So im confussed, i normally should have support for these things. Well guys, thats all the info that i can give, i hope you can help me out! thanks again for the great help ! sam_the_killer
Hi there, And good to hear that uve natively installed the Mac on ur system. And i hope that except for graphics, u might be getting positive results as compared with the VMWare install, and yes u might have observed the speed factor just boosting. Now on a temporary basis, if u want to see some eye candy from ur pc, i think that u should just remove ATI display card and connect ur monitor to the onboard display adapter. Since GMA900 is also supported and that uve installed the support during installation of Mac. Now for ATI, i'll have to do some research, and i'll definitely help, if u'll send me the details of the research that uve done for the drivers, maybe i can help u in a simple way. See ya and by the way thanx for appreciating my work for install guide. WELL DONE Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18327-i-have-succesfully-installed-max-osx-1046-on-intel/#findComment-120121 Share on other sites
Madcoaster
hé Sam, nice to hear from you! did yo receive my mails ? Do you think i selected the right hack options? Tiger is running much better then with vmware, but still not 100 %. As i stated in my above post, mac Osx sais that i don't have SSE3, but i do have it, so thats kinda strange isn't it ? and for the driver, im going to try installing it, but it seems to be way out off my league. I just checked my computer, and unfortunatly i don't have a onboard display adapter, so i guess thats not going to work alsaw. ohh and no problem, i i'm glad to have gotten this far because of your help! greets, Madcoaster Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18327-i-have-succesfully-installed-max-osx-1046-on-intel/#findComment-120125 Share on other sites
sam_the_killer
you should have added the SSE3 hack, as it supports ur processor. It is not for the users with SSE2 processors, and it should install SSE3 based instruction set. Also try installing the Ati Mobility pack. It will not harm ur install, but the fact is it will not load it if it does not support ur config. But 4 now u will have to reinstall mac by again formatting ur HDD (but that should be easy 4 u now). This time u should select SSE3 hack that uve not selected and the Ati mobility pack. And ive found out the Ati package at omni's website, but some part is not clear, that i will make it. And u properly check that display connector is present on the motherboard, bcoz ur motherboard supports GMA900 and this is graphic controller chip on ur motherboard. Madcoaster
hé Sam, no problem to reinstall, cause i was planning on doing the install on a bigger hard drive. I'm going to select those 2 options, --> 10.4.4_SSE3 Only kernel --> Radeon Mobility Support right? I dont fully understand what you are saying about "And u properly check that display connector is present on the motherboard, bcoz ur motherboard supports GMA900 and this is graphic controller chip on ur motherboard." So should i have another display connector on the back ? thanks ! sam_the_killer
does ur motherboard has a connector i.e. 15 pin for connecting a monitor, not on the display card. sam_the_killer
then u might not be having the display conenctor by default. Then u'll have to stuck it up to ur ATI card only.
