Im wondering if the major apps like photoshop and office are waiting untill loepard to release universal binaries so that people with hackintoshes wont be able to run them. as we all know we wont be able to right away or even ever run leopard on our x86 boxes and im wondering if they are going to purposely write leopard only versions of this software so that our 10.4.5 installs become basically useless. in otherwords are software vendors going to purposely require 10.4.6 and above or even 10.5 and above in order to run their software? would apple make current owners of 10.4 even legit ones go out and buy an upgrade just to run current software? or is that all a bunch of baloney

no, its crazy, The REAL major apps for MAC computer are the PRO applications Final Cut Studio, DVD Studio PRO, Motion, Sountrac PRO, Aperture, Logic PRO... The adobe suite is just one of the most used apps BUT it really isnt computer demanding my computer can mange it perfectly in rosseta. The Pro Apps i mentioned above are Apple aplications, dont you think Apple will protect them before protecting adobe apps ?

Anyway lets hope leopard is cracked when it comes at the end of year, and lets hope Leopard Aero look is much better than Vista's Aero Glass.

Cheers

why would we not be able to run hacked versions of leopard?

Because most of us cannot run 10.4.6 on our GMA900s without some sort of work involved. Iwas able to effortlessly install 10.4.5 on my HP dc5100 using myzar, but 10.4.6 wouldnt work with my netgear wireless card when 10.4.5 did. so 10.5 is gonna require us to do alot of work ourselves, so there fore it will be unusable

thanks. now i feel better :D

I think most adobe UB software won't be released until leopard comes out. Up to now though I haven't seen any trouble running most day-to-day UB software titles currently available on my system. I see no reason why new UB titles won't run on here either. They will probably run better than rosetta programs right now. I see delays especially with Adobe programs. Photoshop loads alittle slow, and occasionally when I update acrobat pro the program doesn't open at all and I have to reinstall...pain in the ass with that one...

I don't see how new apps (from Adoble or anyone vendor) can assume all end users to upgrade their OS. Or why will they not run just fine on Tiger.

However, I do think it will be a challenge to run Leopard on a Hackintosh.

The sole reason this could be done with Tiger was because Apple had released to their developers a development platform last year which has a kernel that works with BIOS ... before their own hardware was ready.

In fact this is the very kernel we are using all along. We have only managed to keep updating the other components.

If you run "uname -a" on terminal, then you should see that we are still running this older 10.4.1 kernel.

Darwin Kernel Version 8.4.1: Tue Jan 3 18:23:53 PST 2006;

If u realize OSX is based on BSD ( a version of linux). Also 90% of all linux commands work on OSX.

Eg: Chown and Chmod commands used to repair permissions are actually linux commands.

BTW Even even windows has a kernel. The Kernel in 95/98/ME was krnl386.exe and in XP is ntkrnlpa.exe

Kernel is the file that communicates with your hardware. It is the file that is run first. It kinda is the core of your OS
