drobi78
I am also interested with anyone's experience with this board. I have had limited success with 10.6 on the EP45-DS3R. One big sticking point is getting sound working for the ALC889a. I have compiled a custom DSDT but cannot get sound working. Would appreciate any help! paduck
please go to this thread: obviously this problem is a mass problem and we should merge our power into one thread!!! http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1234814 That link is for EP35 boards and there was some complaining there about contaminating the board with other motherboard issues. After tomorrow, I expect that these topics will become quite active. I am very interested in people's experiences with the GA EP45-DS3R motherboard and look forward to hearing how upgrading goes in the coming weeks. d00m42
You could try my thread, I have an EP45-UD3R which is fairly similar... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...181903&st=0 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181625-anyone-with-success-at-ga-ep45-ds3r/#findComment-1238610 Share on other sites
metanoia
You could try my thread, I have an EP45-UD3R which is fairly similar... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...181903&st=0 Ditto that, his guide (USB method) worked beautifully for the DS3R, the UD3R and DS3R are almost identical except the DS3R doesn't have JMicron but has an additional LAN Port. The key is making sure that you patch the DSDT correctly for the machine, if you have any questions feel free to PM me. If you are running a Q9550, I'll send you my dsdt.aml, which should work for you. Oh, if anyone cares... EP45-DS3R, with working sound/ethernet (one ethernet port tested, other one dunno yet) Q9550 @ 3.57 FSB 420 (haven't tried for anything higher, don't want noisy fans) 4GB Corsair DDR2-6400 C4DHX eVGA 9800GTX+ 512MB (via EFI String, QE/CI working) 2x Seagate 1TB, 1x 160GB pulled from Tivo HD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181625-anyone-with-success-at-ga-ep45-ds3r/#findComment-1258931 Share on other sites
starobrno1
I don´t know but maby there´s no big difference between the EP45-DS3R and the EP45-DS3. Anyway I´m typing this in SL, I have the EP45-DS3 mobo, a q6600 cpu, two 7300gs 512 mb pcie videocards both working ok. I managed to get it to work with this boot 132 disc (uses somekind of dst.aml stuff in combination with chameleon version? and kexts I never saw before) even have my ps2 mouse and keyboard working. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183406 There´s one catch though in my case anyway and that´s either you install from a working 10.5.x using something like LTLs method or you use this disc and install to a usb hardrive but whatever I do I can´t boot without the boot 132 disc. Well I actually can if I install a few kexts I found around here but then I loose one of my video cards the resuloution turns out really crappy and no ps2 mouse or keyboard only usb. But if you can stand having to use a 132 boot disc for now this might be something for you. Not even the new "hot" chameleon fixed things for me, only way I can get it to work is with this disc. Good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/181625-anyone-with-success-at-ga-ep45-ds3r/#findComment-1259068 Share on other sites
SunLizard
Try this. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183299 Don't forget to edit your dsdt.aml file if you use the linked one. OSXInstall's system is different from yours. justgeeking
GA-EP45-DS3R USER... Installed using the DS3L BOOT IMAGE TURNO OFF One of the Lan I turned off the second one in my bios. My Snow Lep Dmg Discs always gets spitted out so i took the installers and made it into a dmg disc then took that over to my pc a old sony pentium 4 and Used UltaIso to convert it into a Iso disc then follow the instruction on the boot disc make sure u hit F5 after it stops flashing..then i arrowed down with down the down arrow in keyboard and ignored the the cache loader . then you should get to Installer screen Of OSX... If this helps for some remember Ep45 ds3L isnt the same board so try to get it close as you can in the bios... i was gonna flash the BIOS but i said no way im a mac user n im not frying this board if i screw it up..... i turned off the cpu 3 what ever that means in the bio im runing the quad core 6600 from intel i turned EIST and the 3 sections below that which i found on another thread.... right now i am imaging the fresh install to my sandisk 8 gig key then im gonna attach my leopard HD and do the camelion on the small sata drive i have.... i just wanted to do this without using the big boys patched dvds so i finally got it to mount and install im using the 9400 GT video card... i went on evos site but everything is in spanish so im not gonna google eveythng just look through the site they have some nice stuff on there to use to tweak out your system. hey good luck now im onto doing this small ASUS P5KPL-CM board with a E5200 chip theres a P5 Asus BootCd also on this site ... I hate making BootCDs i think my brain is fried right about now at least i know my Snow wasnt damaged cause it did hickup in my macbook also and i dont want to go back to the apple store either its very tempting to get another machine also from them but im taking a break from that for a while..... Good Luck Justgeeking P.S All this happened cause some people made the bootcd i think it was PCwhiz Justgeeking, Nice job getting your machine running. I have the same boart(EP45-DS3R). I also installed Leopard from DVD and also from USB drive using the DS3L boot CDROM. After the install, I installed the 10.6.1 update and tried installing the Chameleon-2.0-RC2-r640, which failed. I went ahead and installed fdisk and dd to install it manually. I can boot with the DS3L boot cd, but if I try to boot from the hard drive, I get kernel panics. Would you mind sharing your: - com.apple.Boot.plist - DSDT.aml/DSDT.dsl - smbios.plist - List of kexts in /Extra/Extensions directory Did you follow any specific install guides? If you did please indicate which.
