Cecchi Sandrone
Hi all, I have an Ati Radeon HD 2400 Mobility (ID: 0x94c9). I've installed an iDeneb 10.5.7 distribution. The problem is that when I try to install the ATI HD 2400 drivers from this post (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107526) at boot phase I get a black screen. Anyone has found a solution to this problem? The heaviest problem is that I can't use the iPhone SDK simulator, maybe because hardware acceleration or OpenGL is needed to work. Thanks in advance! I know my post won't be too helpful but I have the same video card in my notebook LG e500 K High. I get the same problem. I installed iPC 10.5.6 a lot of times now unsucessfully, but will give a shot to those drivers. I would like to know if any Mobility is supported right now or if I could at least load up mac in any resolution, just for tests (no, it's not for any graphics tests like iPhone SDK or games). Did you try anything off of this Thread? http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t=0&start=0 Secondly, and I fear more importantly have you given any consideration towards the Intel 3945ABG Wi-Fi Card in your (our) System(s). Of what use would a ~working~ Display be to anyone even w/o the QE/CI; Which the above hack wouldn't give you, without a working WiFi Driver to match it up with? Because of this (or that), I have since given up much of my hope of ever getting OSX to work on (or with), this Hardware. Perhaps something ~might~ change, but I've been waiting for over a year now, I've seen others who have waited nearly twice as long to get this working, and a Laptop w/o Wi-Fi is about as useful to me as a Screen of untangible blocks on my Display.... BTW: I too am a disappointed owner of a Fu-Si Pi2550 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/178432-ati-radeon-hd-2400-mobility-id-0x94c9/#findComment-1411955 Share on other sites

I wouldn't know, as I don't use VMWare. But, if I had to take a stab at it, I'd say it was 'Cause the T5550 (Core 2 Duo @ 1.86Ghz ~in my Notebook~), does NOT support Virtual Modes. Besides the fact that the Fu-Si (or since late last Year), just plain 'ol Fujitsu Board is full of ticked off users who shelled out bigger bucks for there systems ~targeting~ such Hardware that could / Should have managed CPU based virtual Models, only to find that Fu-Si had neutered it in the BIOS... So perhaps you can find your answer in there... DIMAZAUR
first, thanx for your help, second, a few times i got an error message that my cpu doesnt support virtualization. but what is that mean? i have linux, mac 10.5.5 and windos xp on my vmware and its woking, so why cant the 10.5.7 version work? and i didnt understood where to look for an answer. again, thanx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/178432-ati-radeon-hd-2400-mobility-id-0x94c9/#findComment-1412573 Share on other sites
Ichijoe
I'm not sure just how many Fu-Si Pi255 variants there I know there's a lesser One out there that slower then mine @ 1.6xGhz, then there's the One I have @ 1,86Ghz and I guess it tops out @ 2.40Ghz. In short you mileage might vary. Facts are. 1) Not every Intel (in this case) Core 2 Duo supports Virtualization. 2) Fu-Si DOES NOT support Virtualization even on the higher end PA/XI Series, then it wouldn't matter if your CPU could handle it or not, cause Hardware Virtualization would not (read could never), be activated. I suspect VMware is working under Software mode in Linux, and you are confusing this with Hardware (CPU) Virtualization. Since you have an Intel Chip, I'd suggest checking there Database out to see which ~Features~ are activated (or not). Basically Fu-Si stance on x86-64 with more then 4Gigs of RAM is about the same Plugs it's ears and humms tra la la. Although I think they recently caved in to pressure on that and finally released a fix. Thankfully that was for a different model though. But, the fact remains that Virtual Model in Hardware will NOT work on low / mid-range Amilo Laptops irregardless of whether or not your CPU would actually be capable of it. Like I said for myself personally it's a nonstarter as the CPU in my mid-range Pi2550 (T5550) DOES NOT support Virtual anyway. DIMAZAUR
so basicly, there is no way to run mac 10.5.7 on this laptop? only wait until maybe someone will release a version with the ati radeon mobility 2400 driver? Ichijoe
Well as I was implying in my very first Post, what would be the point of a working Video Driver without a working Intel 3945ABG Wi-Fi Driver, which is also missing on OSX (pick your poison). But; so basicly, there is no way to run mac 10.5.7 on this laptop?only wait until maybe someone will release a version with the ati radeon mobility 2400 driver? This is the basic upshot of the situation... I guess the moral of the story is to get a Laptop with an Intel Proc and a nVidia IGP. Shame they have (or had), a bad press at the time I purchased this Lappy. Seemd that there [nVidia] Chips were burning out only after a few months of usage. Ya know like browsing the Web? That's why I *mistakenly went with Intel / AMD-ATi. Well like I said you could try hacking the Framebuffer (see my first Post), it seemed to work for a few People. But, until there's a fully working Intel 3945ABG Wi-FI Driver that supports WPA2, OSX is in a sense non-existent for me, on the Pi2550... *Mistakenly in as far as wanting to run OSX. I wasn't aware at the time that that ATI had no intentions of supporting there Mobility Series of Cards. "Leaving it in the hands of the OEM's" [in this instance Fu-Si] to support ~it~ themselves. Well I already stated for the record how great Fu-Si's end-user support is. Thankfully there are applications that will convert (or modify), the latest Drivers to work on (or with), the Mobility range of Cards. For a fat lot of good this does with OSX. P.S. If you must absolutely positively have no choice, but to use that Laptop to do your ~Work~. Then your last option would / could, be to use the VGA-Out. As an added bonus IIRC QE and CI was also working, but as I said ~IIRC~ take it with a large pinch of salt, it was well over a Year since I last bothered with OSX on this Laptop. It was at that time I made the unfortunate discovery about the Intel 3945ABG, and that, as they say was that... Ichijoe
what exactly worked for few people?what should i do to see if it will work for me? Sorry come again? If you meant that ~Framebuffer Hack~ then, it's simple READ THAT THREAD! I really wouldn't know anymore about it having lost interest in that endeavor till someone manages to fix that retched Intel Wi-Fi Card. If you meant by way of my Post script, then that's even simpler, just use an External VGA Monitor. and when you go to reinstall your flavor of the Day OSX, just use the desktop Driver for the HD2400 (or it's nearest equivalent). Needless to say this WILL NEVER WORK on the Internal Screen (e.g. the Laptop Screen), but you will find that OSX will chug along very nicely with (or without) QE & CI. ON AN EXTERNAL MONITOR. Not exactly the best way to run a Mobile, but there it is. The External VGA works, and the internal Panel (on the Mobility HD2x00) sadly does not. At least not without such a framebuffer hack. as seen above, and even then it only IMHO probable at best if even that would work. Basically it all comes down to how the Graphics are wired together, unfortunately Apple likes to "Think Differently"™, and because of that "Difference" it'll be unlikely (or at least it feels that way), that most of the Mobility HD2x00 Series will never fully work on OSX. But, again there sees to have been ~some~ progress made to learn more read that thread. If you ment those with some Toshiba models (the likes of which escape me now), work and that the rest don't, then see above. It seems that Toshiba managed to use a similar process with those models. As I take it neither of us have a Toshi Laptop, so that info is purely academic at this point...
