meteo
Hi guys, First of all, I am happy to join this community of os X lovers for x86. I really enjoy the "mac" world, my iphone is also the best mobile I've ever had. I'm in my late 20ies, well, at least for another year ;-) I got a good experience in linux ( gentoo, debian ) and I work on linux embedded systems. I'm use to dealing with hardware compatibility issues etc...but I don't know a lot of things regarding the os X installation. By the way, I'm french, so please forgive my english. Anyway, enough for the bla bla speech, let's go to the point. I got recently a pretty powerful configuration, a i7 with 6go of Corsair. I'd live to give a try to some photos and movies experience, and I think iMovie and iPhotos are my friends ( newbie at movies and photos ). I got the v7 iAtkos, I set the "cpus=1 busratio=20" to boot the DVD, elsewhere it kept rebooting and rebooting. The installation went fine, I selected some packages for the customization part ( voodo 9.7, ACPI and ATI HD ). When I try to boot my os X installation, i use the "-v -V _F cpus=1 busratio=20" command line, but it failed. A lot a log is displayed, then a tiny improvement of the display, still a lot of logs, and then some weird ACPI error messages. I'll get you these messages this evening. As I read from uphuck, if the installation went fine, it's pretty sure that os x can run on my computer. I know that linux runs a virtual linux to install the one on your harddrive, I guess it's the same for os X. The point is : - Did I miss some crucial package during the customization ? - Do I need to change my boot options - I don't give a damn to reinstall again the os X, if it works, that is all that matters. - Is it possible that my config is not compatible despite the fact that the installation went fine ? - MSI x58 Pro - i7 920 @ 3.0Ghz ( 20x150fsb ) - 3x2GB Corsair - ATI Golden Sample 4870 1GB Network and audio are from the mobo. My configuration is very stable despite the small overcloking, I use a Noctua with a well-ventilated Antec tower. thank you for you help guys, any feedback would be appreciated, I'd really enjoy to run os X on my i7. Have a good day meteo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/177313-iatkos-v7-boot-failed-msi-x58pro-920-3ghz/ Share on other sites

Have a good day meteo Hey guys, I finally got somethin' booting, I unselected all the items, and then select one by one the ones that I need. I selected also ahci and old ACPI. I thin I will do a sum up as soon as I get something fully working. I just booted in failsafe mode, stuck in 1024x768. Next step is booting in normal mode, full res ( 1920x1200 - 24" ) and playing with audio and video. I don't know how to change my drivers, and if I need to. the final step will be full support of the 4 cores. Thanks for your help meteo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/177313-iatkos-v7-boot-failed-msi-x58pro-920-3ghz/#findComment-1213355 Share on other sites

Have a good day meteo Hi meteo, I have a very similar hardware configuration (my ATI 4870 is 2GB), and the only limited success I had was installing iAtkos v7 with the following options: Chameleon v2 DSMOS SMBIOS28 OHR APIC DRIVER ATI HD It boots with "cpus=1 busratio=20" and goes beyond the Apple log and a few seconds after the screen turns black, but the PC is operational, i. e., if a press any key there is disk activity, it seems that apparently the there is some issue with the video driver. I've also upgraded the BIOS of my MSI X58 Pro-e (MS-7522) to a SLI version, the v8.5. I've been trying to use the info on this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=159686 If anyone could shed some light in helping us ...
