spunk
Hi, i just installed quicktime cause i wanted to get rid of the green artefacts it alway gave me. So I installed quicktime from the apple website and when it told me to reboot i did so. but now it hangs at the boot process (nearly at the end of it) -x, -f, -v don't fix it but i can still boot to single user mode. the last line when i boot -v says something like "adding browse local domain". Has anybody an idea what i can do? until that moment it ran flawlessly on my machine. without problems. Any help would be appreciated, thanks for reading and even more for every idea what to do... spunk
Reinstall from scratch is all I know. It hooks right into the OS... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh no!! I was afraid somebody would say something like that... Do you know why this happens? Does it appear on every machine where you try to install quicktime? I guess I'll better think twice what I install in the future :-/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1770-no-more-booting-os-x-after-quicktime-installation/#findComment-11404 Share on other sites
iradeon
QuickTime is at the heart of the Mac OS, its the main source for video and audio codecs. If you are replacing your x86 codecs and files with ppc ones, you're at a standstilll. You will need to re-install the entire system. For a future reminder: Do not update to 10.4.2, Do not update iPhoto, infact don't upgrade anything at all except iTunes if you want since it is only a PPC app. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1770-no-more-booting-os-x-after-quicktime-installation/#findComment-11485 Share on other sites

jasch
Learn this lesson: DO *NOT* install updates for any APPLE software. Updates are PPC only.
