I have a Intel 915Gvwb board.

Intel List the onboard sound as a realtek ALC8086 chipset.

I pulled the Vender and product Id using the Ubantu live cd.

VID = 0x8086

PID = 0x2668

At first the AppleAzailaAudio driver was loading(but no sound)

I moved this kext out of the extentions path.

I pulled the AppleAC97 kext from teh Darwin CD, and modified the plugins/AppleAudioIntelICH.kext info.pst file.

I change the ICH 6 section to have an id of 0x26688086, however I'm not sure if this is correct.

the AC97 drivers load, with out errors, but when I got to change the volume, it removes the volume link and reports no errors.

Any help at this point would be grand...

Thanks

Have you an Intel motherboard?

Mine is an Intel GUX and I cannot find where to change from auto to yes in the bios.

I have the same problem many seem to have. The volume is displayed but no sound is coming out at all.

Any Idea?

The Azalia driver are for Intel High Definition Audio. So, if you have a compatible one it should be ALC880 or ALC860 or Intel HDA. The AC97 driver kexts are for the AC97 spec and compatible, ie ALC850.

I have the later (ASUS A8N-SLI prem) and it doesn't work, the driver loads OK but no sound.

Changing de BIOS settings makes de USB driver crash, so I think the problem could be there...

I have the same problem with Asus P5GL-MX (i915GL chipset) and Intel HD Audio...

Someone could help us?

Do any of you have AppleIntel830 files installed? If you do then delete them they interfere with audio

AppleAzalia sounds like the right driver for your hardware and shouldnt need the Info.plist modifying

Also have you all tried a BIOS upgrade it works wonders on 915G boards
