Philbert
Is it worth doing? This is the laptop in question. It's currently got XP on it and runs nicely. http://tinyurl.com/nregg2 I don't see any match for the audio or video drivers. Are the ones that come in iPC the only ones you can use, there's no way to get them from somewhere else and install them? I'm really trying to learn about this, it just seems so strange that there's a very limited amount of drivers and if I don't happen to have those specific drivers then "too bad, yer screwed" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170038-ipc-on-a-2005-laptop/ Share on other sites
gazepo
You will have to give a full and detailed list of your hardware first. And YES you can use other drivers not just the ones that come in iPC. Philbert
The specs page on the link above are pretty much as detailed as I know how to give. The audio in Device Manager just says "Legacy Audio" and also "SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio" Here's the direct link to that specs page: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...;product=434906 Here's the full Device Manager list if that helps anything: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170038-ipc-on-a-2005-laptop/#findComment-1173680 Share on other sites
Gujal
Your audio may work with AppleAC97Audio.kext But the real show stopper is your display card Mobility Radeon 9000. No "Quartz Extreme" or "Core Image" possible meaning no nice graphics in any Apple software (iLife, iDVD, iwork, etc) Leave that laptop on XP Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/170038-ipc-on-a-2005-laptop/#findComment-1173772 Share on other sites
Philbert
Ah, Oh well. I have a newer laptop that I just bought last year but That one I actually use for work and such so I'm afraid to mess with it. This one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834147534 Now the idea that you don't have to use the drivers that come with iPC. The other computer that I currently have iPC on is also pretty old, it's got an ATI X300 card. So if such a driver existed would I just Google for it, then installit it with soemthing like Universal OSx86 Installer?
