If you have an desktop PC you can use NATIT_ATI_AUTO.kext. it is a kext (driver) that works very nice for desktop PCs

Install it with kexthelper, reboot the system and at the startup press F8. At the prompt digit -v -f and then press enter.

With this operations you will enable QE/CI and resolution change.

If you have a desktop no hope. the caretta frambuffer (the framebuffer for X1300-X1550 cards) do not manage the internal LCD of the laptops.

There are some (complex) solutions for enable QE/CI on laptops. See on this forum

Attach NATIT_ATI_AUTO

Good Luck

Is there any drivers for the x1300/x1550 yet? also what is the best ati card or just most compatible for osx?

Natit_ATIauto.kext.zip

Thanks for the reply but just making sure here. When you said if you have a desktop no hope you meant laptop right?

Would anyone else like to confirm that this kext works. This is the first i heard about it. I have like i dont know how many threads asking about this card and nothing about this kext. I think someone had told me about some natit thing but it totaly crashed my osx.

so i had asked what is the best ati card or just most compatible for osx. Id like to change that question to. What is the most combatiable pc parts for osx? That will work with out a problem. or close to it.

Ok, quick question then. Would this work the with the 512mb AGP version of the 1300, or just the PCIe? (id 7146)

Also, do you just use Kext helper to install or are there any other steps involved?

i followed the directions and now when leopard loads i have no video... anyways to undo this ?

It enables resolution support on my x1550 but no QE/CI :D

I also have tried kext editing, but no luck so far. It behaves quite well with software accelerated core image, but no go with playing videos.

Yup, I now have my X1550 working. Its a PCI VisionTek card with device ID 0x7183.

Check out my topic 174813 for details.
