mknabster
I don;'t know about most people, but i seem to be having a lot of problems with the new 10.5.7 update from Apple. For example, OSX takes much more RAM than it normally does to run, but i just noticed that it doesn't recognize my printer anymore. I just re-downloaded the drivers, and still nothing. Also, many of my programs constantly freeze up on me, like Firefox, iTunes, and Finder itself. Has this happened to anyone? Konami®
Correct. This is really hilarious, hackintosh are having just common issues because is a hack, but a Macbook Pro having a lot of issues with 10.5.7? that's weird... I mean, I am not saying that it can't happen but, wow. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166929-stupid-1057/#findComment-1159499 Share on other sites

solaar
I was almost tempted to create a new thread. But then I found this one and thought it might look like 10.5.7 bashing... Anyway, congrats to those who have this upgrade "which addresses a lot of bug fixes" running stable on their machines. I don't know where to start and I don't even remember all the issues I'm having so here are just a few - btw they occur on both my Macbook and my hack: * Canon printer driver crapped out - had to uninstall and reinstall. I could get all function backs (direct CD print etc) only after countless attempts, took me half a day. * 5 of my VST plugins deactivated themselves (stuff I paid for) - had to reinstall 3 of them * Cubase 4 suddenly loses VU metering. I can still play back and record but I don't see the levels. I have to restart CB4 to get the VU back. * The start and rewind keys on my m-audio projectmix don't respond properly anymore. Sometimes I have to keep the key pressed for several seconds * Magic bullet Looks locks OSX up for several minutes and corrupts the GUI as soon as I select a function. I've posted a separate thread about this in the Video forum. * Photoshop CS4 does the same if I leave OpenGL support enabled. * I'm also getting the odd Firefox {censored} outs. * I've never seen as many crashes with various apps since the deadmoo image, especially when closing an app * things are generally lagging a bit, 10.5.6 was snappier * smaller annoyances which I don't remember or haven't tested yet Now I wish I could just downgrade with a mouse click.... Goes to show once again that patience is a virtue and the latest is often not the greatest Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166929-stupid-1057/#findComment-1163054 Share on other sites

I'm not sure what to make of it, but have you checked your hardware already? I mean I would definetely check my hardware for errors if I had this much programs locking up. I personally haven't had a single lockup so far, and my otherwise hidiously complicated (don't get me started) Canon CAPS printer still works, and so does all the rest... except for that shutdown problem which I am facing. p.s. It might be fun to do some Apple bashing, but this isn't the best place to get you going again – and I think that you, as Apple users, know that already Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166929-stupid-1057/#findComment-1163152 Share on other sites
mknabster
Yea, when i had 10.5.6, i hardly had any problems with it. I have been able to get my Canon printer to finally work, after reinstalling it 3 times. I remember back when 10.5.2 came out, there were a lot of problems with that, but some people made an unofficial way to remove it, if only someone would do that for 10.5.7... I mean I would definetely check my hardware for errors if I had this much programs locking up. As far as I'm concerned my peripherals ran perfectly fine under 10.5.6 and there's nothing wrong with its drivers either. The machine itself where I'm having the most serious crashes is Apple hardware. BTW the people having problems with 10.5.7 are not just an exotic handful. There are tons of complaints especially from video and audio pros. edit: Just noticed that I'm also getting the 'sleep issue' on my Macbook now. Check it out, there are plenty of other Mac users out there with this issue. Shame really, 10.5.6 was the perfect system for me. Not stupid 10.5.7, stupid me to upgrade. Time to make a clean slate or wait (months?) for 10.5.8? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/166929-stupid-1057/#findComment-1163449 Share on other sites
