BeatMag Posted April 26, 2006 Share Posted April 26, 2006 Hi, I've have just got my hands on the myzar 10.4.4 +10.4.5 + 10.4.6, also the Jas 10.4.6 dvd install including ppf1, however non of them work at any decent speeds.... the deadmoo 10.4.1 image was just SO FAST in vmware, there shouldn't be that much of a difference in 10.4.6 ..... I just dont get it. The deadmoo is at least twice as fast as the 10.4.6 , graphics, app load times everything...... anyone else noticed that its SO SLOW, it takes word 2004, like about 20-30 seconds to load.... then when I type it lags behind by alot I just dont get it, I have an nvidia graphics card, Athlon x2 3800+, I am not willing to move to native since , vmware gives me flexibility.... thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16060-performance-1041-vs-1046-vmware/ Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sabr Posted April 26, 2006 Share Posted April 26, 2006 If you were to run it natively, you would see that 10.4.1 is not the best option. I don't think you should be using VMWare as a long-term solution to running OSx86 on your PC, mainly because you will have a terrible experience running it, which is definately not what Apple made this OS for. BeatMag Posted April 27, 2006 Author Share Posted April 27, 2006 I dont know, I sort of like to have them in vmware so i can turn them on at any time.... natively , i cant do that many things with it, 10 seconds later i'll need windows for something or other, i dont understand, why in vmware so slow, and natively so much faster... 10.4.6 is WEIRD........anyone got it in vmware working FAST? deadmoo's image took alot of configuring, but it was basically stock SSE3 unpatch and then the network + sound drivers and that was it, somehow its SO fast................. bluedragon1971 Posted April 27, 2006 Share Posted April 27, 2006 There are some technical reasons (relating to the kernel mostly) that 10.4.1 is faster on VMWare than later builds. I found myself turning the VM off probably three minutes after I turned it on. 10.4.3 in VMWare was also sluggish. I don't typically prefer VMWare. 10.4.6 Native (at least for me) is definetly faster than 10.4.3. But in it I lost the possibility of using two cores (I have Intel 820 Dual Core CPU). When I selected 2 CPU (in VMWARE 5.5) OSX hung during boot. Now in 10.4.6 VMWARE is really slooooooooow, but guess what: I can use both cores again. I remember in 10.4.1 that VMWARE was slow until I replaced some ATA kexts, but it was so long ago...
