Hi everyone,

First - I tried installing 10.4.5 and am stuck on the "Still waiting for root" problem. I've searched around and there doesn't seem to be a clear fix for laptop users.

Did anyone with a Thinkpad experience this, and fix it? If so, how?

Second, a more general question. What parts of the Thinkpad aren't supported? I'm aware of the wireless issue and have a Belkin 7010 pcmcia card around the house to solve that.

Other than that...I am a committed trackpoint-nipple user, and am really attached to the trackpoint "thumb wheel". I'd understand if it isn't supported now, but is anyone out there working on it?

Regards,

Steve

I didn't have any issues like that on my T42p.

I used the 10.4.4/5 Myzar install DVD.

The only issues Ive had were with other DVDs that didn't install correctly (it could have been that my partition was set as active). I also wasn't doing dual boot.

I reloaded with xp this past weekend and will probably set up dual booting.

Which Install are you using?

i've got to 4.5 universal install cd but couldn't get it to run on vmware.

getting bug 9297 while installing...

tried severl kernels, the original and mach_kernel.all

still looking for mach_kernel.nonx...

When i boot on my thinkpad i see after the bios screen the darwin x86 boot...

Then i see rules scrolling over my screen with loading HFS+ ....

After that i see a screen with smaller letters and it ends at:

BSD root: disk0s1, major 14, minor 1

Somebody, any idea how to fix this?

I am running natively on a T40 (tried VMWare on my T42 but cannot resolve the PAE issue), and the install was pretty easy. I am not dual booting (yet at least, I have a partition reserved for XP) so when I installed I partitioned the drive which freshly erased it, then mounted the partitioin I wanted OS X on. Install was reasonably straight forward after that. Make sure when you get to the packages screen you hit "customize", then deselect:

- SATA drivers

- AMD

- SSE3

- any printer drivers you don't want

That may be the issue.

I have a thinkpad t41 and i cant get my system to boot at all...I get the "still waiting for root device", I have made countless posts on here, just do a search under my user name and still cant seem to get my system to boot.

I am running the Jas 10.4.6 patched version, i also tried the Hotiso release along with the myzar patched version, still get "still wiating for root device". I am going to try to do the custimize install, i havent tried that yet...I will see what happens. Otherwise I have no other ideas on gettin my t41 to boot...

I JUSTT GOT MINE to work! SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!!

I went into custom options, unchecked a bunch of things including SSE3 and some other stuff...and it all works! sweet! Now i just have an Apple Audio Error, not sure what thats about....can we get audio to work on thinkpads?

One More question, were you guys able to get the resolution correct on your thinkpads? I have the 1400 x 1024 resolution ... time for some searching!

I think i have the wrong DVD, i've got: osx86_10.4.5_amd-intel_sse2-3.iso

Not trying to hijack this thread or anything but since there are alot of thinkpad owners in this thread , when i boot the machine and specify the resolution like this... "graphics mode"="1400x1050x32" and boot my resolution is perfect. But wheni go in to the com.apple.boot.plist file and edit it and add <key>Graphics Mode</key>

<strong>1400x1050x32</string>

and i try booting and i get a bunch of jaggy lines.....anyone know why?

N-ick if your having a problems i really recommend you getting the Hotiso rip and patch it with Jas's most recent patch....that should fix your issues....

I made a new installation....

i can only boot with an installation dvd, and then i will see the gray bootscreen with the apple, but not circle at the bottom.

When i boot without the dvd i get: b0 error_

I patched the Hotiso 10.4.6 with Myzars.10.4.5.To.JaS.10.4.6.ppf

But i think i do something wrong... do i need a different version?
