As one could have expected it, one can already find the iPhone OS 3.0 on the P2P networks. Following attractive announcements yesterday, some iPhone owners have tried to dowload this new beta version and tried to isntall it on their iPhones. Bad draw. One can not activate the iPhone and then use it, if you do not have a developer account! And as Apple indicates it clearly, it is impossible to restore the iPhone OS 2.x...

So, if you planned to try the current iPhone OS 3.0 for non-developer usage, simply do not even try. If you already tried to perform this operation, you then have 2 options: purchase a 99 USD developer account, and put your iPhone in a drawer till the official iPhone OS 3.0 is officially released next September...

It is actually not impossible to restore. I am part of the developer program and I own a first generation iPod touch. I installed the 3.0 beta 2 firmware and activated it using iTunes no problem. I didn't see the point yet so I put my iPod into DFU mode and restored using iTunes without a problem.

Hey guys...

I have the same problem that most of the others seems to have when they tried to update do OS 3.0 Beta. (it is locked...)

Before I did it my iphone 3g was on the latest firmware, 2.2.1 ?

I've now tried to put it in DFU mode and restore it, dident work, got an error every time. I've tried to restor it to another version (2.0), same thing, error every time...

Does anybody know how to restore it? Without waiting until the official release comes out, and without paying 99$ to be in the developer team? Or is it possible to do it ??

Hate that apple always is so smart...

put your phone in dfu mode... then restore to 2.2.1 or w/e then you'll get error 1013... and thenn go to quickpwn and hold down home and sleep button for 15 secs then let go and hold the sleep button for 2 secs... btw this is on a pc... one good thing about dual boot

Yes I know that, tried that... Worked half way, all the programs and wifi works now, the thing that dosent work is the Phone ^^ you cant dial, no signal.

I know in the new beta they change the firmware that operates when your dialing, but can I get the old one back and working? or do I have to wait until it's official realized in July??
