Hi guys, sorry I've been away for a while. I'll re-upload all those attachments tonight without fail :)

I'll also add in the info about the new EFI emulation etc.

Can't wait, that kext package is the final thing I need! Nice to have you back!

Ok, all the files have been re-uploaded. Apologies if they get taken down again, not sure what happened the last time.

Let's hope they stay up :D

It was a board/sever failure, even some Avatars are lost.

Ok....sorry to be a noob here...but EFI.

I'm smart enough to be testing an install on an external before trying to do this to create a dual boot.

Every time I try to do efi on my 6400 I get the 4 language error screen. I tried with the ver 5.

Does anyone have step by step instructions for a newbie? I finally got all working equipment (changed video card...changed wireless card...hell...got a 200gb sata hard drive to leave plenty of room for a dual boot)

All thats missing is the efi mac partition :pirate2:

The readme file for PC EFI v5.2 is pretty self-explanatory I thought?

If you're getting a Kernel Panic constantly you should probably check your kexts.

I'm actually *beeping* the ToH disc, so I'll do a little write up after I have Leopard working properly.

You didnt add your specs but what you are getting is a kernel panic. So maybe try another kernel.... :-)

Backup and Remove AppleEFIRuntime.kext, and try again :help:

People should boot with option -s or -v every time a kernel, kext or boot file is changed, so you can see which is the error, and then tel what are the specs, we are no mind readers here.

Here are all my specs plus the error:

I get a no driver for this platform error :(

Here's what I got:

Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505

Mobile DualCore Intel Core Duo T2500, 2000 Mhz

2 Gig of DDR2-667 DRam

Hitachi 200 Gig 7200RPM Sata (although I'm attempting this at first on a 40gig external before screwing around trying to make a dual boot on the 200 gig - I want to get this down first - could that be the problem?)

nVidia GeForce Go 7300

Dell Wireless 1500 802.11n

Broadcom 440x 10/100

I got everything working without the EFI....as soon as I use it it craps out (yep...even dual core - albeit much slower so I still usually turn off a core)

You didnt add your specs but what you are getting is a kernel panic. So maybe try another kernel.... :-)

I have 10.5.1 working perfectly fine on my E1505/6400 with efi. I agree with previous posts. it's either kernel (I am using vanilla kernel), kernel permissions not correct or you got the wrong applesmbios or have problems with the efiruntime (which some of us have to delete to get it to work). things I would like to see fixed:

- I can only run either a kernel that allows sleep or speedstep, but not both.

- only one cpu is working on my dual core. if I boot with both it won't even go passed darwin bootloader

- mouse tearing is back, this time for gma950 users. some (iGuru and others) are working on a solution, my current workaround is mousepose which gets rid of most tearing.

NYC Coyote: sounds like your AppleACPIPlatform.kext is wrong. Try to replace this with an earlier version. btw. nice hdd you have there. I assume you replaced the dsmos.kext with the one in the efi package, otherwise it won't work either.

Where would I find the appleacpiplatform? Can you post it here?

And.....I got the hard drive yesterday. It was inside an external Hitachi that I picked up for 120. At a certain store (if I can post the name????) When you look for a specific serial on the box (ones that start DTG) the hard drive inside is 7200 instead of the 5400 the rest have :) It breaks the warranty though.

The video card and wireless card I bought off of ebay for a total of $60. So for a grand total of 180 I can have a perfect dual boot off a 200 gig where everything works :)

If you can hand hold me through this efi thing :P

remember, dsmos.kext and applesmbios should be used from within the package. try the attached acpi (it's the one from my ToH install and works on my E1505/6400 with vanilla kernel). boot with -v and report your error. make sure you set the permissions correctly. Here is an excellent guide on how to do it:

Thanks...I'll try that now....I actually just tried removing the other and a no go. I'll post as soon as I do it (which may be later tonight - it is Turkey Day....not sure how much longer I can put off heading out to my family :))

So I tried everything the great deceiver mentioned, and now the computer just reboots when it tries to boot the partition. No error message. Regardless of whether I'm use -s v or not. So I don't know what's going on now :(

sorry to hear that you are having trouble. you can still fix your install by booting with the ToH dvd and use terminal to put old kexts back.

try to boot your nb by disabling one cpu in bios first. mine behaves similar when I run both cores on my core duo.

the fact that you changed the acpi and it doesn't boot at all indicates that file permissions may be messed. follow the guide in the other link to set the file attributes step by step. your kexts and your kernel. Also, in my case it was always better when I either moved or deleted old kexts first before I put new ones into the extensions. remember that these are directories.

I sent you a pm. we got similar hardware and I believe yours should work fine.

Maybe you were right in your earlier post and it is your external hdd you try to boot from.

Ok exactly what setup you have ? Which kernel ? Which install ? Any special kext ? What Video card you have ?

I've the sleep kernel 9.1 from netkas above a ToH install, no special kext execpt laptopDisplay and NVidiaEFI. (I've a INSPIRON 6400/E1505 w/ GForce Go7300). Sleep and wake works pretty well, i would have booted with both core and then sleep and wake to get the both cores working, but unfortunately i can't boot at all with both core (SIGPIPE ERROR) as i used to do with 10.4.

I wanted to try the vanilla so I can get updates. Would the netkas kernel allow for updates????? Where did you get the kernel? [removed]

And I posted my specs further on up if you want to check them out :)

This sucks everyone gets sleep except me, I guess its the ATI x1400 that doesn't let it sleep.

you are not the only one. dell laptops with gma950 won't get sleep either.

w00t!!! I finally got my Dell e1505 Hackintosh running. It even dual boots with Vista using the Darwin bootloader. The only problem im having is setting screen resolution and the speakers dont automute when headphones are plugged in. Im using the mac.nub OS X 10.4.10 build and it works pretty well. I am running the bios with no dual core support and it doesnt seem to have affected my windows installation. Thanks to everyone on the forums for providing info to get my system running.

P.s. I know the pic isnt the greatest quality but it does show the essentials.

GOT IT WORKING!!!! Running 10.5.1!!!

Followed the instructions on insanelymac on this page: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;hl=brazilmac

Now I just got to get the dual boot with vista working (using vista bootloader). I just made Vista the active partition and I am having difficulty getting it to boot the OSX partition. At least I know its there and working B) Anyone have any luck dual booting the efi layer with vista? Care to share how you did it?

Some info on what's going on. I put grldr, boot_v5 and menu.lst in the root of my c drive.

menu.lst contains the following:

find –set-root /bootmgr

timeout 10

default 0

title Leopard

kernel (hd0,1)/boot_v5

Vista is my first partition, Leopard my second.

When the bootloader comes up, OSX is in the list....When I click on it I get the "failed to load properly" message. That \grldr can not be found.

Any ideas?
