make a directory in /Volumes that should be the name of the share displayed in finder

enter in vi /etc/fstab as root into the terminal

that'll create an fstab file for your editing pleasure

use smbfs as the fstype

and yes Darwin will read the fstab file at boot

 

ps: use ntfs as the fstype to mount a windows partition (ntfs)
