Hello, everybody.

I had struggled for days to figure out how to install Mac OS X 10.4.5 on my Inspiron 9300, and I finally made it.

I used:

1. Partition Magic to make another partition for Mac OS X

2. VMware to install Mac OS X on a separate partition.

3. Modified boot.ini using chain0 to dual boot Windows and Mac OS

4. IONetworkFamily.kext from Mac OS 10.4.3 to enable ethernet.

5. nVidia Beta 1 Build 5 to update the graphic driver.

I installed Mac OS to use Final Cut Studio, and I love Mac OS so much.

In fact, I'm writing this using Safari.

I think I was pretty fortunate because Dell Inspiron 9300 has standard (maybe common) type hardwares, and it was easy to configure them in Mac OS X.

Now, I'm looking at 1920x1200 resolution screen. :o

- Display is 16bit to laptop LCD. (System Profiler says 32 bit but it isn't)

- Wireless 2200BG isn't working.

- No QE/CI/GL or acceleration yet.

- Doesn't wake up from sleep.

- Haven't tried PCMCIA and SD slots but i doubt they are working.

Dear all,

I got a 9300 too (a good), but I am not able to get it run a 10.4.5 (I used the bay's Universal ISO).

As soon as it reboot it crash with some exception around ACPI :thumbsdown_anim:

Only point is I am trying to install to a virtual partition, anybody did that or is it mandatory to write this on a partitioned HD ?

(I was trying to to messup my config before beeing sure it runs)

Thanks for any help :weight_lift:

Mugman, which install did you pick ? Can you detail the full spec of your 9300 ?

I'm stuck (not able to make a boot because of some ACPI issues while booting inside VMWare ).

Did you tried also inside VMWare ?

Replying to myself, I get the Myzar instead of Universal and is running a 10.4.5 inside a VMWare on a Inspiron 9300 :)

(network as bridge and "persistent" virtual DD are the only option I set)

Will now try as a native :)

Hi there! I am quite new to this forum, so please be gentle!

I'm currently running on an Inspiron 9300 @ 2.13ghz, Geforce Go 6800, 2gb ram, 100gb 7200rpm hdd. I got confused using VMWare or not, I have the 10.4.4 w/ 10.4.5 update by Myzar, will I still need the VMWare to install it?
