What if it doesn't work? Will I be able to run Vista as usual or will everything crash? I don't have any extra Vista CD/DVD... :)

Well I would advise making a Vista dvd or downloading one... You can also try making a partition and installing Kalyway on that first to see if it works... if it does then you can do a complete install and totally get rid of Vista (if you want.) I used Kalyway 10.5.2 and now I have 10.5.6 with VMWare Fusion so I can run XP (vista needs more resources ie. ram) because I have a BlackBerry and Mac doesn't support it... :)

Oh, Is it DVD+R DVD-R or what kind of dvd? I'm sorry about my noobledge.. I meaned if there is any viruses in the download file.. :) Thanks for helping me guys

You should read the tutorial section on Dual-Booting. You will definitely need a restore DVD for your current system and files, otherwise you might lose them all. That is, unless you can properly shrink the partition you have now to get free space to create the MacOS Extended Journaled section you need for Leopard. With my experience using Vista, that's pretty near impossible.

Create restore DVDs or back up to an external drive before you attempt any OSx86 installation.

Good luck!

This is maybe too hard for me... I'm reading from this tutorial: http://leopardx86.homeunix.com/Leopard_OSx...he_Install.html

well I have got an external USB harddrive device for backup but I dont know if you mean that I'm supposed to put the Vista OS on a DVD...?

And my graphic card isnt maybe even compable cus its GeForce 8600M GT

Start with this tutorial:

Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd (sse2/sse3) EFI V8

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=98086

Your laptop should have come with a Restore DVD or software to create Restore DVD's, so you can create a backup to use if your system ever loses data for whatever reason. You can then use the Restore DVD to reinstall your system and files to exactly the way they were at the time of backup.

Your graphics card should be fine. There are tutorials for working with the 8xxx series of nVidia cards, along with installers for those who don't want to or are unable to edit EFI GFX strings.

I got these DVDs when I bought my laptop...

LG Recovery Center Windows Vista Home Premium

So well, is it the Vista Installation on the recovery center disc or what?? :)

Hey, I've myself have successfully installed Kalyway 10.5.2 the other day.

I would like to share some steps with you ;)

1. See the compatability list for your hardware to decide for your distro (don't be scared if some hardware isn't listed, you can try anyway and find some replacment driver later if lucky)

2. Be sure all your Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and Optical Disk Drives (ODD/DVD/CD) are SATA or USB connected

(it makes everyones life easier, SATA is more mac friendly thats for sure!)

3. Download your distro via torrent sites and burn it on a DVD-R on low speed

4. Tweak your BIOS settings to first boot of CD/DVD then BOOT your DVD

I'ts most likely you wont have any problems more...I've had an IDE DVD and I got all the time the unfamous "still waiting for root device", basicly it means the installer cant see your DVD/HDD (so try some other distros if youre sure in your hardware, which got other drivers). I've sucedded installing iatkos 5i but It wouldnt boot of the HDD..other story and strange commands...Kalyway hit the spot for me (recomanded for my board).

5. So you format now your MAC partition in the installer (under disk utility) and install it

6. Voila ! You can enjoy your new MAC OSX !

Now comes the part when you fix other drivers etc...btw..bout the partitions...

Dont worry about erasing Vista, it WONT as long as you dont touch that PARITION (C mostly).

When you install Leopard (iatkos v5 or Kalyway 10.5.2) on a other partition you will get the Darwin bootloader which will list all of your boot records on restart so you can choose your OS (vista,Linux,OSX...)

And if even THAT fails then you can use Vista's recovery console from DVD and repair the boot record.

I hope I've helped you a little...now go play and learn! (the worst that can happen is for you to loose something important so BACKUP (I've never backuped, as long its on the partition untouched its saveable :P ))

Yes, it's the LG Recovery Center. It's similar to what I have on my own Toshiba Satellite. It allows you to burn (usually 2) DVD's that will copy data from a currently hidden partition on your hard drive to create a backup.

NOTICE! It will be a clone of the hard drive exactly the way it was when it came from the factory (NOT the way it is now). You have to BACKUP ALL YOUR PERSONAL FILES AND APPLICATIONS elsewhere, be it additional DVD's or an external HD, or they will be wiped.

It's best that you read your printed and digital manuals before your risk anything else you might want to keep on your laptop's hard drive. From here on, installing Leopard will require you to reformat your hard drive into one (for strictly OSx86 use) or two (for dual booting Leopard and Vista) partitions, wiping out all your data.

He's using a laptop that, in this case, has only one user partition on its hard drive (not counting the recovery segment).

BACK YOUR DATA UP!

You are responsible for your own files. Make double sure you won't lose anything before you take a plunge into a different OS on the same machine.

... Did you check for drivers in the OSx86 Hardware threads? You can also try OSx86 Tools (available through these forums or Google search), which has an online driver database. Just install LSPCI (from within the application), restart, run the app again, and connect

Hey, thank you for asking...good news.

I've managed to make my LAN work this morning (I'll put the link in my sig).

Now my only enemy left is sound and remapping some keyboard key's :happymac:

It's nice to write this post from a mac...:)

EDIT

Sound on! Yeah! Now my mac install is complete :)
