Hello to everyone,

I read recently about update to 10.5.6 and i found about PM disabler.

i want to know what it actually does? is it make impossible to delete or replace Appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext?

If so, can i skip the terminal codes?

"sudo –s"

*type password*

"while sleep 1;"

"do rm –rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext;done"

I think AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext is required by 10.5.6. A disabler unloads it and thus does not cause kernel panic at boot on hackintosh.

I didn't understand what it does.

Is It just unload this file, so in the end i would need to install Appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext again and then delete PM Disabler?

If i patched DSDT file do i still need to use PM Disabler? if so do i even need to use terminal?

The DSDT is supposed to allow you to run that .kext and does on both my machines so if you use it then you will be able to have it loaded if it works on yours. The .kext manages the CPU features for power savings and IMHO does a damn poor job of it causing my temperatures to be 10C hotter than they would be if it was not loaded so I rename the .kext so it will not load for just this reason letting the C1E settings in the BIOS take care of that works well this way.

tnx for replying.

I succeeded to update 10.5.6 after 5 or more tries.

during the installation i run the loop command that supposed to delete PowerManegment kext but for some reason i went to Extensions's folder and find out that this file is exist and haven't deleted.

So are you saying that if i have Pm Disabler kext, i dont need to delete it?

Yes that is what is is supposed to do so you don't need to delete it.

my Goodness, dont you believe, that writing update guides is something for a bit more experts than you ?

Actually it is very simple when you understand it! so maybe for you it is complicated until you understand how it works.

so where can I get the pm disabler, or should I just delete the damn file?

Btw, M-S can you please write that guide for me as well. I have almost the system as you except I have 8800gt and 4gb ram and intel x38

My complete guide how to update to 10.5.6 isn't in English so you can't understand it.

but all you have to do is installing PM Disabler

and its better to install Hacked Kernel for fast updating.

and just before clicking restart, open OSX86TOOLS and select

repair permissions

Set kext permissions.

Clear extensions cache

and then run it and restart your computer.

you may need to restart it twice before it loads to your OS.
