A Nonny Moose
2008 was one of those strange years where we have to add a second to the clock in order to make up for our planet's weird rotation. Officially, the second was added at 11:59:59 on December 31 (hey that was yesterday!) Our Macs are all ready for the Leap Second, provided you're using the Apple Time Servers in the Date/Time preference. On Windows...well, it depends: The Windows Time service does not indicate the value of the Leap Indicator when the Windows Time service receives a packet that includes a leap second. (The Leap Indicator indicates whether an impending leap second is to be inserted or deleted in the last minute of the current day.) Therefore, after the leap second occurs, the NTP client that is running Windows Time service is one second faster than the actual time. This difference is resolved at the next time synchronization. So if you're using Windows, fix your clock! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144067-2008-the-leap-second/ Share on other sites
vbetts
Our planet and it's odd habits are just too much for an operating system to handle. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144067-2008-the-leap-second/#findComment-1022633 Share on other sites
