battista
I see people offering os x leopard upgraded msi wind u100 netbooks with Dell wifi chip upgrades and upgraded bios in ebay USA.. (Search msi wind osx). The offers include a 120$ leopard oem dvd. Is there a howto available here somewhere that describes this sort of installation? UnaClocker
Beats the guys selling Dell Mini9's on eBay.. They send it with hackintosh install DVD's.. We've had a couple wander into the Dell Mini forums after buying one of them asking why their OSX DVD won't work with the Boot132 bootdisc we have setup for the Mini9.. heh, poor guys.. The people doing it seem to be making a freaking killing doing it though.. $300 computer, sell for $600.. One guy has sold like 20 of them, has at least 2 of them up at any one time.. These guys are going to feel the wrath of Apple's legal team, one day... battista
So this is a fake or what? My question was if it is really possible they installed the vanilla oem dvd they add to the package and not some osx86 kalyway or whatever based patched leopard software. And why they replaced the wifi hardware in the u100 with Dell's Wifi chips. Is there some restriction with the airport service in leopard on the u100 original that can only be resolved by replacing those wifi chips? UnaClocker
Yes it's real, it's no big deal to install OSX on this generation of Netbooks. The Dell wifi card uses the same chipset as the Apple wifi cards, so it's recognized as a native Airport card. I don't know if the Wind's original card can be made to work with 3rd party drivers or not, but I highly doubt it. Yes, it's very possible to install a Vanilla retail disc onto a Netbook using Boot132 (think EFI-x, but not for idiots, and FREE). Kalyway and the like are good for newbs, and were great 9 months ago. Boot132 is the modern proper way to install OSX and make it much more bullet proof for software updates and the like.
