Hi guys !

Since 2 weeks I'm trying to install Leopard on my HP Pavilion DV4400. But I've had a lot of problems. I've tried several patched distribution of OS X 10.5, each time with a different problem.

- I tried iDeneb 1.3. Everything seems to work. I can boot on the DVD, lauch the installer. Select the differents patches and the install is going fine. It reboots at the end of the install. We have the grey apple on white background and then...blue screen.

- I've tried Leo4all. I boot on the DVD, seems to be loading and then...blue screen.

- I've tried Kaliway. Don't remember exactly, but I'd say it was like Leo4all.

The only OS X x86 that run on my laptop is Jas 10.4.6. (Didn't try to update to 10.4.8)

I've heard that the GMA 900 is creating a lot of troubles, because of no-drivers for Leopard. But I have also heard that the problem with the GMA 900 is that he doesn't support Quartz Extreme and Core Image. Well...I am a little bit confused, because, when I run the Leopard Installer, the graphic chipset seems to work fine, but, when it reboot after the install, he get stuck on the blue screen.

Oh, and I heard that the laptop build-in screen dosen't work without a jumper between to pins or something, but I've made my install with an external monitor and the result is the same.

Can someone help me please ? I don't need a solution to install Leo. I need to know if it's possible. (despite of the hardware) And if it is, why I doesn't it just work with the "standard" patched distribution, and how can I solve that.

Oh and...have you heard about someone who already installed Leo on hp dv4000 ? Or any laptop with GMA 800 ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you very much for your quick answers !

I found mercurysquad's kexts, seems to be a real solution to my problem.

I'll do some tests and tell you if I it works.

But...I've got a question...what can I do if I get the blue screen even with

an external monitor...? Because I did try this method, but didn't get results.

Lalala...sh*tty uncompatible hardware. ;)

Why Intel GMA 950 graphics processor are not supported?

Specs from apple macmini:

Intel GMA 950 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory1

http://www.apple.com/ca/macmini/specs.html

I don't understand why its not supported since a real mac use this graphics processor too!

GMA950 is supported... many of the releases of OSx86 have the drivers in the installation

Okay,

I will burn a new Leopard DVD and try the famous "paperclip trick".

I'll tell you if I suceeded...

Well...we were not talking about GMA 950, but GMA 900.

If only I could have a 950, I wouldn't have all these problems. :dev::gun:

...I'm back :D

Can you please tell me how to duplicate the content of an iso file into a partition ?

Because I want to clone the iso of the install disk onto a partition so it is bootable.

I know that we can do that with the disk utility on Mac, but which program should

I use to do the same on Windows ?

Thanks again for your help. :)

check out the EEE701 leopard thread, I am using the driver of GMA900 there, no paper clip is needed.

I'm sorry, but I can't find the thread you're talking about.

Can you please give me a link ? Thanks.

EDIT : Oh my god....

IT IS POSSIBLE ! Look at this link : http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/sys/971868599.html

I've arleady sent an e-mail to this guy to ask him how he did... Hope he'll answer. :)

EDIT 2 : As it is the 10.5.5 that's running on the dv4000, I think they use iDeneb 1.3.

And this should help me work to make it works. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1010593

I'll tell you if I succeeded.

Hey...

Just a little message to tell you that I did it !

I used iDeneb 1.3, configured with the help of the guy I was talking about on my last message.

I just had to delete the drivers of the GMA to boot on OS X, and then...I found some .kext which are

compatible with the GMA900. I'm now working on getting full support of Quartz Extreme and Core

Image...I have also a little problem with the wifi. But anyway, it works !!! :-)
