xomp
I've managed to get Time Machine working with an USB laptop drive & enclosure and have had Time Machine make several good full backups. I'm now in the process of giving Leopard my whole disk and dropping Windows all together but when I try and restore (By rebooting with install disc and choosing to Restore) it simply freezes up. I get the rainbow wheel for a good hour with no progress or anything. The system is recognizing the disk as a Time Machine backup and I can browse the files easily either in OS X or on the install cd. Has anyone had issues restoring with the Hackintosh? Any ideas how I can do a full system restore without loosing all my stuff? xomp
Nevermind, doing a complete reinstall and ditching TM all together once the reinstall is in place considering TM is a huge waste of time fooling with anyways. rhyguy
its better if you use a newer distro like i deneb 10.5.5, as i've experienced freezes if you leave the pc too long without moving the mouse with older distros such as kalyway and iatkos Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142771-time-machine-not-restoring/#findComment-1013033 Share on other sites
gawkersucks
I had issues with using Time Machine to do a full restore from the Kalyway Disc - It would freeze before the restore even began. I tried it with Leo4All and I have used it to restore my machine before. I just booted to my USB install to reinstall Chameleon and I was good to go. Time Machine is one of the easiest consumer level backups I have seen... in my opinion at least. xomp
Yeah, I'm now sticking with an application called Carbon Copy Cloner. It's a disk cloning application. I've not seen any issues with it thusfar (it actually worked for me). I may try Leo4All in the distant future, but I'm running low on DVD's heh. mschilling
I had good luck with TM by using migration assistant to import the account and apps. It worked amazingly well. I'm having trouble making a TM backup now with my Dell D600 laptop updated to 10.5.5, but hopefully I can fix that.
