I am off to the USA shortly and just realised that unlike the UK where we use 240v, the USA uses 110v and different plugs.

 

I think I have the plug issue sorted but can I use the USA 110v in my UK standard macbook?

I am wondering how well Mac power supplies work in Pakistan... perhaps it is a good time to take a little "vacation"?

The Macbook itself doesn't matter. What matter is the input of power to the converter (the brick). So, if the converter supports a USA standard, the Macbook will.

Look at your AC adapter. Next to the cable that goes to the computer there should be some text. I think that these adapters can run with both voltages, at least with the MacBook of a friend it was like that. My UPS only converts 240V to 115V so all my computer equipment runs at 115V(my access point and switch are both 115V, we use 240V, not very good), so I know that it works on both 115V and 240V. But check it anyway, just to be sure. The replacement power bricks are very filmsy, and I'm referring to the Apple-branded ones, sold at their online store!
