hey everybody,

I recently did the kalyway combo update from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3, and I got my QE/CI, USB, etc all back working fine but my TimeMachine still gives me the "backup volume could not be found" error... I've tried many of the fixes on this site as well as various ones from googling... any ideas? =/

Thanks in advance.

P.S. - I backup to an external USB2.0 250gb disk.

Has to do that our OSX86 didnt set the Ethernet device as internal !

There are two ways - i prefer the EFI string way (chameleon bootloader or PC-EFI needed)

1. use EFISTUDIO and add ETHERNET device , let the tool make the boot.plist device entry, reboot

2. also possible to use such an IONETWORKING.KEXT which has also that fix

Why is efistrings better than using patched / older .kext or injectors (for HDA, GPU) ?

YOu can use orig. Apple kexts.

I attatched EFISTUDIO_EXTENDED (i added special gfxstring for ATI 38xx using megadolon framebuffer - >= 10.5.5 needed for megadlon / ATIO 38xx ).

EFIStudio_EXTENDED.zip

are you sure? I've tried using modified IONetworking kexts, I even tried reinstalled the Time Machine Fix from kalyway's DVD (which is just a modified IONetworking kexts anyway) and still no good.

I tried IONetworking kexts before and it didnt help me either. I just us Carbon Copy Cloner now and it backs up every day and it seems to do fine...and its free.
