Mogren
Vista install went smoothly until the reboot, now I get the error message that it cannot find \windows\system32\winload.exe Any advice or people having the same problem? cwestpha
same problem with me. Tried automated repair and it came up unable to fix issue. winload probebly wants direct system access to some EFI component thats protected by apple's EFI loader. gnubug
Actually, Vista does not support EFI in this release or the final release in '07. That will come at a later point, possibly 2008? with a Vista update or product refresh..So while it is having issues with EFI, it is due it lack of EFI support in OS. That's not the problem. XP completely lacks any EFI support, yet it will intall and boot correctly. The problem, as stated before, almost definitely lies in partition or winload problems. cwestpha
I still disagree. Looking at my latest Vista build I see large amounts of EFI files and directories for Vista. I am still quite sure it is this that is causing the problems. Furthermore I have noted that the MacBook sees the DVD as having EFI components durring boot. I can still semi-boot the CD (that is its detected as a bood device with EFI components) BEFORE the new firmware was applied. AirmanPika
Oy I take a break from the PC world for a week (bought a new VW GTI ) and look what insanity occurs. I'll grab bootcamp tonight and try and figure out vista for all. Hopefully the latest build will help a bit too compared to 5308. (using macbook pro) I tried installing the latest beta of vista (bulid 5342) on my intel mini core duo with boot camp and it came up with this same exact error message. Haven't been able to find a work-around. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14100-vista-and-boot-camp/#findComment-91436 Share on other sites

cwestpha
Hopefuly someone can figure this out, because the current option requires sacraficing OS X for Vista. Am I the only one that thinks this is a bit of a lop sided trade off? ;p Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14100-vista-and-boot-camp/#findComment-91606 Share on other sites
AirmanPika
Yea I just figured this out while playing too. Vista seems to be confused by the partitions so blowing them all away seems to work. I'm gonna let vista fully install and then do more testing.
