Boris AParicio
Hi, like I said, I am looking for a new mobo so I can run OS X, the one that I have (see sig) is a pain to make work (yes I have followed the guides and still too many freezes) any ways I am looking to spend from $200-250 USD maybe a little bit more. From New Egg preferably. I don’t mind if it is a ddr3 memory based as I am looking to change ram too. What I am trying to accomplish is to run ideneb or kalyway with vanilla kernel. you know like every person, I need to be working: - Sata HDDs and Sata DVDs - Sound, - wired internet, - USB - At least 4GBs of memory - and the hole shebang. Not interested on 1366 socket as I don’t want to upgrade processor. maybe a Gigabyte or Asus mobo, preferably no Intel. I am using Google to research cards that I like but not much info is provided. I am hoping that someone with a similar sistem will let me know of a good choise, thanks and pease. LogicalUser
people seem to like the gigabyte P45 based boards, and they generally come in at half the prices you mentioned. GA-EP45-DS3R or UD3R seem like they'd make a good choice, lots of SATA, firewire, working audio, ethernet, 16gb ram limit i have a EP45-DS3R myself, however have yet to have a bare drive free and enough time to get OSX installed on it yet :/ that said, you'll find success stories w the board in the signatures of several dozen users here Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/140952-new-mobofor-os-x-suggestions-please/#findComment-998723 Share on other sites
JaE-V
Get one of any in the gigabyte EP45 series. If you'd like ddr3 go with one of the EP45T boards from gigabyte, they're all on newegg. LogicalUser
the only downside with that board is that its only got six memory slots, but supports both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM. Thus, you get 4x DDR2 slots and 2x DDR3 slots, so your amount of DDR3 RAM is limited accordingly but, it does mean you could upgrade to DDR3 at any time when prices change, and more than 8gb is likely unneeded anyways Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/140952-new-mobofor-os-x-suggestions-please/#findComment-1000644 Share on other sites
