What about the price do you think? The current base 8 core is what I have enough for. Will the price be well over 3k for the base 8 core i7? I still need two monitors so I am not sure if the wait will even make a difference if I can afford it anyways. Let me know what you think.

Has anyone guessed as to what the price of the new MP will be? And if it will even have two quad i7 or just a single?

Apple will lower the current MacPros by 300-400 and the new ones will be the price that the current MacPro's are at now.

It will have 2 Core i7 xeons. Although there will probably be an option for a single Quad Core chip, like the Mac Pros now.
  • 1 month later...

well as we know there was no announcement of MAC PRO at AMW. I'm interested as much as anybody.I have a MACPRO 8core 3GHZ Clovertown 2007 model. It has been a great workhorse but time for the pasture.

Some MACPRO 2007 8core limitations in the PCIE buss and a few other things with HBAs that will hopefully be dealt with in some new i7 MACPRO or what ever update hopefully soon. Example is the use of new ATTO TECH EXPRESSSAS 6Gb/sec SAS HBAs and so on.

Also the OPENCL etc sdks for multicore application programming... I guess this opens for all to use many of the cores that seem today to be limited to the PRO APPS (FCS suite etc).

Could you please not bump old threads?

I wouldn't call old a thread after one month. And besides the subject is still of great interest.

To people who wonder, from MacRumors: Recommendation: Don't Buy - Updates soon

I'm also in this exact same boat. Fortunately I guess I am still a little bit short on the cash for the configuration that I want, so waiting another month is a must for me anyway. But if we haven't heard anything by the end of Feb, I wont want to buy the 'old' mac pro with a new one due out so soon, but NEED a new machine as editing/encoding full HD video on a dual 2.4 is painful! So I may be forced into building a windows 8 core as at least it wont lose half its value overnight, already prices much cheaper, and I could use the spare cash for a second 30" monitor and more!

Announce them already!
