FreakyMac Posted December 9, 2008 Share Posted December 9, 2008 Ok stupid question, I am waiting for my new CPU to arrive to upgrade my HP, From a 1.80 GHz AMD Sempron Socket AM2 to a 2.6 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Socket AM2, Will I see improved performance on Windows Vista? It's called OEM, watch for it. In other words, you get JUST the processor. Betting you missed that part in the description. This is why it was so cheap. french squared Posted December 21, 2008 Share Posted December 21, 2008 you up graded an HP, expect bios issues. Did you check to see if the bios was locked? Are your sure HP supports upgraded? IF the clock speed is correct and the OS is stable dont worry about vista not knowing what make the processor is. Im 90% ceratin HP wont support upgrading the Processor. You could try repairing widows. but I would run a live Linux disk and see what it says.
