The onboard sound in my laptop didn't work, so I bought a $9 (shipped) usb soundcard from ebay. Mine is of the clearish-green variety and it works fine. $9 beats $35 for me any day, especially as I only need to use it on this particular system for osX.

or you can get something really nice like creatives audigy 2 nx (usb) :censored2: .. its 110 dollars new but it supports 7.1 or 6.1? one of the two, has a remote and is quite nice all together. I was gonna buy one off ebay for 60 bucks but someone outbid me :) it ended up going for 81 bucks minus s/h....

Yeah, Turtle Beach makes some interesting stuff. I couldn't get the roadie at the local stores and I needed a new sound card in a pinch (my contacts wore off or something inside my laptop's sound card - I can't send it in for repair until the end of the semester). And as I said before, it worked with every version of OSX I've tried.

Hi!

That sounds interesting, but as my input sound does not work, i'd like to know if there is any USB just for Mic, or in case there is not, which one is confirmed to work.

By the way! if i put one of these usb devices in my mac, will i still be able to listen to music through the mobo built in card while talking by the usb mic? :(

Thanks a lot!
