OPTiK
Yeah I don't see how you can get 7.1 sound from one jack. I have 7.1 on my motherboard and I have 6 jacks. mega
this is for those that have a choice of no sound, or sound I have no idea how 7.1 works, I've never used more than headphones or a pair of desktop speakers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13772-cheap-sound-if-yours-dont-work-30-usb/#findComment-87830 Share on other sites
alan smithee
The onboard sound in my laptop didn't work, so I bought a $9 (shipped) usb soundcard from ebay. Mine is of the clearish-green variety and it works fine. $9 beats $35 for me any day, especially as I only need to use it on this particular system for osX. I was gonna buy one off ebay for 60 bucks but someone outbid me it ended up going for 81 bucks minus s/h.... MacApprentice
The so called "7.1" sound coming form these kind of card is just crappy surround emulation on 2 speakers. I got an USB Headset wich work the same way, very good sound but 2.0 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13772-cheap-sound-if-yours-dont-work-30-usb/#findComment-88017 Share on other sites
Luckie1
Turtle Beach Micro USB Sound card works well for me. It's 28.99 at Best Buy and 29.99 at compusa. I walked into compusa and made them match best buy's price. lol. OPTiK
I looked into that one.. seems like a good deal. Although the Audio Advantage Roadie seems to be a better choice for a little bit more cash Take a look! http://turtlebeach.com/site/products/audio...producthome.asp Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13772-cheap-sound-if-yours-dont-work-30-usb/#findComment-88462 Share on other sites
Luckie1
Yeah, Turtle Beach makes some interesting stuff. I couldn't get the roadie at the local stores and I needed a new sound card in a pinch (my contacts wore off or something inside my laptop's sound card - I can't send it in for repair until the end of the semester). And as I said before, it worked with every version of OSX I've tried. cararllo
Hi! That sounds interesting, but as my input sound does not work, i'd like to know if there is any USB just for Mic, or in case there is not, which one is confirmed to work. By the way! if i put one of these usb devices in my mac, will i still be able to listen to music through the mobo built in card while talking by the usb mic? Thanks a lot! cararllo
Thanks! so if i buy the SABRENT SBT-SP6C PCI Sound Card i'll be able to use it only as mic? Because i suppose the output quality will be worse than the one from my Intel Sigmatel buil-in one.
