declan Posted April 1, 2006 Share Posted April 1, 2006 I have been happily using Myzar Install 10.4.5 for a week or two, however, system profiler shows only sse2, now i have read that even if the machines got SSE3 it won't show in this install. Since mine is SSE3 i would prefer to have full support. So is the true or not. Its been bugging me. If i can repatch or anything to sort this SSE3 problem out, please post, clear instructions though, as i use this mac a lot. Don't won't to bugger it. technolion Posted April 3, 2006 Share Posted April 3, 2006 I had the same "problem". System Profile showed only SSE2 support, although I have a SSE3 CPU. Solution: Get the Maxxuss patch solution and use his prepatched kernel, or better, use his Patch-o-matic files to patch the vanilla kernel with the patches you need (I needed the Anti-TPM patch and the AMD enabling patch). declan Posted April 3, 2006 Author Share Posted April 3, 2006 Well i patched my own kernel with base + amd (needed for some reason, now display the SSE3 flag, but no difference, as Myzar pointed out its actually just hidden. So totally pointless, guess i will over clock till i get a new chip. One of the reasons Office runs slow is that it is a PPC binary, and the PPC instructions are being emulated in Rosetta, granted SSE3 helps, but it is still translating PPC instructions to Intel instructions.
