HEy everybody,

Anybody out there get the MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz iso file burned to a DVD and installed and working?

I have an Alienware area-51 2g Centrino M SSe2

I was able to burn the DVD get it installed with a dual boot.

I used partition magic to resize teh disk and then used a command line format to create the partition so it had an ID associated with it and propmts why disk to load one the boot.

I formatted it using teh OSX tools as a 10 gig HFS+ Journaled volume.

It boots up with the verbose messages and then hangs on the blue screen that looks like the load of eth desktop.

I tried starting with -s and I got the following two messages at eth eend of eth list:

Singleuser boot -- fsck not done

Root device is mounted read-only

any ideas?

may i know what files are contained in the DVD after i burned the MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz iso file?

i burned it using nero burning rom, when i view it using windows explorer, it only shows 8 small files inside it with the total capacity of the DVD as 182KB only.

is there any problem with the DVD?

Under windows you will only see those 8 files...try using vmware (free trial for 30 days) and you will see that you can boot with the ISO/DVD into the MAC setup.

oh, means my DVD is OK?

i know the torrent file ask me to burn it using Alcohol 120% using 4x, but i use the Nero Burning ROM to burn it at 4x. will that affect the contents of my DVD?

mmm not sure about the burning but I used Nero 7 to burn my ISO and had no probs...also I used a DVD-rw just in case I made a coaster!

Odd.....I ran that version fine.......but used the partition manager in the installer to creat the osx partition.....the partition is sort of unconventional......starts and ends on non-cylinder boundries.....sometime i get an "Invalid Partition Error", but that can be remedied by completely turning off the power supply....

On the other hand.......the universal installer dvd.....(the second bootable choice)....did not work....
