Hello there,

I am planning on replacing my AMD HackMac with an Intel one. What I need is reliability and stability (Vanilla kernel preferred). I know the P35 chipset works very well - especially on the GA-P35-DSx.

Does the P45 chipset work as well as the P35 chipset? I would like to get a GA-EP45-DS5, because it has PCIE 2.0. How are my chances (EFI, minimal hacks, vanilla kernel, AHCI, sleep, Quad-Core, ...) with this board/chipset?

Thanks,

mcsmart

There are several posts about P45.

Yeah I know. But there so many people complaining about other things in these posts which makes it hard to track the actual status of the chipset. Also, I would like to know if anybody can say anything about the GA-EP45-DS5.

with this he´s absolutely right. the mainboard is absolutely the same as the GA-EP45 boards, except that this board has sil steelvine controllers, which are supported on leo - if you want to spend some extra money: buy it!

Thanks for your feedback. After reading a lot of posts about the P45 chipset I decided to go for the P35. Can't wait until my GA-P35-DS4 finally ships :) - this is gonna be good!

Thanks again,

mcsmart
